The Townhouse Boutique Hotel delights many with its eclectic charm and cozy, vintage-meets-modern rooms. While guests love the prime location near the train station and the professional staff, they have mixed feelings about the value, citing overpriced breakfasts and room quality concerns. The rooms range in size and sometimes struggle with noise and temperature control, but cleanliness is consistently applauded.
Amenities like air conditioning are appreciated, although small bathrooms and lighting issues are noted. Overall, the experience seems to marry comfort with the convenience of a central location.

Detailed Reviews
Conveniently located a 5 min. walk from Zurich HB train station on a pedestrianized street; very quiet considering it's just off Bahnhoffstrasse. Stylish Room 51, on the top floor, is generously sized. The queen-size bed is very comfy with down pillows and duvet. The bathroom is somewhat compact but the shower stall is large. Included are bath gels, shampoo, generously-sized towels, and a hair dryer. If you have not chosen a room with breakfast option, the cost is USD$21 for a basic buffet of cereals, juices, coffee or tea, yogurt, fresh fruit, bread or croissant, cold meats and cheeses, hard-boiled or cooked egg.

We spent a couple of nights in the Townhouse Hotel on a stopover in Zurich. It's extremely convenient to the train station, steps from the shopping district on Bahnhofstrasse (which could be an expensive feature if you're not careful), and immediately next to multiple small restaurants and bars. A short walk takes you to the lakefront, and the tram stop is right outside.
There is a nice little bar/restaurant attached (Palette) where you can have a light breakfast in the morning (added fee). We were greeted warmly, and quickly checked in - there is a tiny elevator to take you upstairs, although the stairs are also worth exploring as there are bits of art and kitsch sprinkled throughout.
The room was comfortable, the bed was particularly good, and WiFi was generally good and easy to access. The only downside was a very tiny room safe which had a dead battery - probably because it was so small nobody bothered to use it. (This is only a minor picky thing - I had no worries about security in the room)
I would stay here again if we stopped by train in Zurich, much nicer and less institutional than a big corporate hotel, and you can't over state how easy it is to get to from the station.
We stayed in late September, the room was comfortable all night with the windows open, I don't think there is air conditioning so I'm not sure how it would be in the dead of summer.
Recommended!

I stayed one night for business reasons. Excellent location because I could reach the train within few minutes.
But... as I arrived at the hotel (17.20) was nobody at the reception as it supposed to be until 20.00.After searching at the cafeteria which belongs to the hotel, I found a lovely waitress which helped me to find my key. My arrival time was a bit unstable and I inform the hotel about it so I received a mail where to find my key but if I would have arrived before 20.00 for sure would be the receptionist there. Unfortunately nobody was there,so it was a bad welcome without having any info about the hotel and if I could eat or drink something or whatever you need when enter to a hotel. I booked a room without breakfast because it wasn't sure the morning what time I should leave according to my busy schedule. The morning I took my suitcase and went down to the cafeteria-reception-entrance, nobody was at the reception so I searched again for the waitress and ordered a coffee. I would like here to add that I haven't found any information or a list which i could order breakfast or something to my room. But even so .. was anyway nobody to gave it the night before. After almost one hour to the cafeteria I asked the waitress if came somebody from the reception and she said ''yes of course, he is sitting to the other side of the cafeteria go and you can find him there'' so I went and I asked if I can leave my suitcase for a couple of hours to a place there, yes I could, and if I had extra costs for my already paid room, I mean City tax etc.but was paid already as well and without asking me ANYTHING if was everything ok or something wrong..
So I will answer to these questions:
The only perfect thing was the location
Purely hosting, nobody there on my arrival so no idea if there were a good service
Dirty room, full of dust everywhere,on the furniture, floor, cutlery stuff etc and also hair and bread crumbs on the floor, so barefoot after shower was a challenge(of course no slippers provided)
Old stains from liquids on the floor and on the furniture
Dirty and overused bottles from shampoo and shower gel to the shower and also really stained shower curtain
Shadow curtains also really stained, especially to the spots that used more
Noise from the inside of the building startet before 8 so it wasn't a relaxing wake up time. The noise of tram it's the less that bothered
Not at all sanitation on those difficult times.,into the room or to the hallway before we enter the room after the elevator. To be honest I don't remember the spots to the reception cafeteria if they had or where was it..
I have to stop here because I feel really disappointed.
I wanted to love and like so much this hotel but it was fur away from the descriptions that I saw before.
Maybe were bad days for the hotel maybe not, but unfortunately I experienced some really negative things ..

The Townhouse is a well appointed, cute boutique hotel in a great location. The staff was very nice and the price was good, as well. I did not have a great night's sleep, however. The mattress was a bit lumpy and outdated, the cleaning crew started working outside my bedroom before 0730, and I had to sleep with the window open, due to the extreme heat indoors.
If you choose to eat at the adjoining restaurant, be very mindful of what you order. They do not post prices. I had a lovely cappuccino, but when I ordered a small salad later, the bill came to over 27€! I was appalled by the price and the fact that they almost seemed to be hiding it from me!!

Excellent location in the heart of Zuerich, short 2 minute walk to Bahnhoff Strasse. Rooms are clean with antique decorum, excellent WiFi. Coffee shop on premise provides nice breakfasts (at 15Euro/pp) as well as coffee and some snacks. The hotel owner Thomas provided personal service (we were traveling with a handicapped person) and assistance even very late at night.

The Townhouse is a very comfortable and chic hotel that is centrally located and very convenient for the main station. Our room was stylishly decorated and carefully designed so it felt larger than it was - plenty big enough for us and our luggage. The staff were very helpful and friendly and happy to store our bags, which included skis, while we went sightseeing. They also pointed us in the right direction for dinner when we arrived. We stayed for one night at the beginning of our holiday but could happily have spent more time here. We will return if we’re in Zurich again.

Well received by a friendly staff. The hotel has a lively cafe scene and is located on a car-less street right downtown. It is excellent for a stay in central Zurich, especially if you are traveling by train or, by extension, by air as there is a direct train link with the airport.

The hotel is 1-2 blocks outside the main entrance to the Zurich Hauptbahnhof. Trolleys to all areas of Zurich leave in front of the same entrance, making transportation and connections very easy. Rooms are reasonable size, but halls and entry are small. There aren't many restaurants in the close vicinity, but the train station has several. The hotel is recommended by the two of us!

Great location, fantastic staff, a little noisy with the bars and early morning street cleaners. Close to the main train station, with an easy path to drag suitcases, reception staff (thanks Phillipo) was really welcoming and provided some excellent suggestions - which we took up. We had a street facing room which was a bit noisy (Thursday/Friday nights) because of the bars, then came the street cleaners early in the morning. Not a show stopper.

We give this hotel a solid very good rating, especially for the exceptional central location in a very expensive city. We found the staff service to be outstanding, particularly with check-in and check-out clerk, Philippo. At our request, he offered fantastic touring and reasonable shopping and restaurant options. He also showed us how to use the SBB app on our phone for train schedules (that was so convenient). Kudos to Philippo! Breakfast should be seen in light of value for money. The cost is appropriate, and there is plenty of food served in traditional continental breakfast style. Their site is not set up for the expansive buffets that other bigger hotels often provide (and at higher costs). The only drawback is (as other guests have noted) is the lack of air conditioning, which is common in older hotels. Fortunately, during our September visit, the weather was pleasant. As a result, we didn't even need the big fan in our comfortable room, and we were also able to open windows for fresh air. We highly recommend this hotel, though perhaps reconsider one with a/c in warmer weather. Other than that, the hotel is a lovely, charming place in an ideal location.

Hello, for the room that i had booked it was quite the small. The bed is quite spacious as it could fit 2 people very comfortably but for the room i had reserved there wasn’t a sofa bed. I hope this helps, best of luck and safe travels.
Sorry - I have absolutely no idea.
No A/C but fan was provided.
Thank you very much for you inquiry. All our Suites have AC.
