Although we were only at the Widder for two nights, I can say it was completely divine. The location is perfect. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was amazing room. We found the service and cuisine to be great at Widder Bar, Widder Restaurant, and Widder Garden. We had particularly exceptional service each morning at breakfast - the best we had during our 2 weeks in Switzerland. Widder Garden was an oasis and a completely charming way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
If I could rate this hotel 6 stars, I would. Incredible staff, exceptional service and beautiful rooms. I would like to especially thank Joyce for accommodating us at the last moment and Anina, the Front Office Manager for ensuring our stay was excellent.
My wife and I stayed at the Widder Hotel for one night during our honeymoon and what a magical night it was. The concierge was extremely helpful in booking our dinner reservation and also a spur-of-the-moment wakeboarding excursion. The room itself was stunning - designed efficiently with classic, sophisticated furniture. The staff provided turndown service and the mini-bar was complimentary (excluding alcohol). The signature two-starred Widder Restaurant was closed during our stay, so it will have to wait until next time. The cocktails at the bar/garden, however, were fantastic. We had a splendid stay at the Widder Hotel and cannot wait to return!
We absolutely loved Widder Hotel. It's in the beautiful Rennweg area of Zurich. Very close to the train station, and is situated amidst lovely stores and restaurants. We traveled with our 3-yr and 6-yr old, and the room we booked could accommodate the 4 of us comfortably. Please do eat at August Restaurant and at Widder Garden while at the hotel. They were some of the best meals we had during our stay in Zurich! I'd definitely want to go back here!
Extremely satisfied with everything the hotel offered and its location in the old city is fantastic. At the end of ourb8 day trip, our final night is at the Widder, and we forward to eating in their 2-star restaurant. I would definitely come back and I would recommend the hotel to other family members and friends
Being a family of four, we reserved one of the Widder Residences, full suites with kitchen and washer/dryer in a medieval building across the street from the main hotel. Not the least expensive option :-); however, it was worth it, as the facilities are spacious and lovingly renovated. Our residence (no. 3) may not be ideal for people who who are not very agile, as access to one bedroom requires taking a few narrow and steep stairs, and the floor in the living room has a noticeable slant that may feel disconcerting (remember that the building is at heart from the 16th century). But overall, the rooms are wonderful. The back of the residence overlooks Lindenhof, a large municipal courtyard, very quiet. The location is perfect, in the city center, yet away from loud traffic, particularly the back bedroom. Many attractions are within walking distance. Our only meals were the delicious breakfasts, offered in charming breakfast room in the main building. Staff are amazingly helpful and friendly throughout. The only complaint was that the rooms were not ready when we arrived at 3pm; we had to walk around and return to inquire several times. If arriving after an overnight flight, the late (or belated) check-in would be a drawback. An option to change or freshen up in a dayroom or bathroom would be a welcome addition. Otherwise top notch.…
Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are unique, clean and comfortable. Our suite had a high tech shower which was a bit wasted on me, the led light show in the shower was distracting. Lots of hot water and ample nicer linens, towels and toiletries. The 700 year old building has been completely modernized with a successful attempt to maintain some of the original architectural features and finishes along with some very contemporary features like the glass elevator. Hotel is a bit of a maze with short runs of irregular stairs everywhere. You really need to watch your step getting around inside. Furnishings are all comfortable and functional. Hotel is close to shopping and dining. Great place for groups to meet as well. It was our second visit and it will not be our last.
Everything about the hotel was perfect in every way! Excellent and polite staff, beautiful room with a terrace , great location and attention to every detail. We will definitely return!! Thank you for giving us such wonderful memories!
