Fabulous hotel! Despite the current construction around the hotel, the location is excellent and everything about the hotel is five star. Everything from the decor to the breakast was perfect. They even have a lot of vegan options, which is so nice to see. Do not hesitate to book. You will not be sorry!

The hotel is beautiful, the restaurants are very good, the club access was a great experience and our suite/floor was amazing! We were very impressed overall with our stay at this hotel. Even more so, the front desk/concierge went above and beyond when one of our family members left an ipad in our room after we had checked out - they expedited its return! We were amazed!

What a view from my corner room! And great bar, restaurant, and lounge inside. 9 minute walk from the main train station. I love this place. I love Zurich. So happy my boss booked me here for the weekend! I just came from Baden where I had a few of the Limmath River and was so happy to see it here again!

We spent the last two nights of a trip around Switzerland in the Marriott since I was looking for something modern, tasteful, air-conditioned, and somewhat affordable. At first the reviews I read of the Marriott were very critical of the rooms, but then I noticed information about renovated rooms in the North Wing. We selected one of them -- and they are outstanding! Very large, totally modern, tastefully decorated, totally new bathrooms with terrific, large walk-in showers. The staff are very friendly and although the hotel is very large and clearly attracts conferences/meetings, we were there on a weekend and didn't experience any crowds or large groups. Our only critique is that the hotel is a little outside the main tourist area. We did walk from the train station (maybe 15-20 min) to the hotel and from the hotel to Old Town, but it's not something I'd want to do multiple times a day. The hotel sits in a neighborhood that doesn't have shops, coffee places or restaurants -- or at least very few of them. So when you return after sightseeing, there are very few options in walking distance. On our second night, we simply went to the Thai restaurant within the hotel - which is excellent! - but we'd certainly rather have been able to stroll a few blocks and dine outside of the hotel. That's the only reason we might choose a different - more central - hotel the next time we're in Zurich. Otherwise, we enjoyed the hotel a lot!

I booked this hotel without giving a second thought because of the brand. I can never imagine that this brand can have such a low quality hotel. The rooms doesn’t give the feeling of 5 star not even 4 star. It’s an average hotel, rooms are average. They don’t even keep the complimentary water as not everyone is comfortable in drinking tap water specially if they are coming from a place where they only drink filtered water.

Dear mrfood_mrstravel, Thank you very much for your Tripadvisor review after your recent stay. It has been a pleasure hosting you. We are distressed to read that you did not enjoy our Deluxe rooms. maybe our new renovated Superior rooms might be more your style. It is correct that we do not offer water bottles in our rooms. Zurich has water supply, being the freshest from the surrounding mountain regions and purified and filtered for our guests, as advertised in the rooms. Thank you once again for your feedback as well traveled contributor and we wish Wonderful Travels

This hotel was absolutely spectacular. Within walking distance of both the main Zurich Train Station and a bus stop that is the departure point for many tours. I hope that this Marriott monitors reviews because their employee Kelsang really made the stay amazing. My party flew in over night from the US. We were hoping for an early check in for out two rooms and couldnt get it. When room 1 was ready we went up. Kelsang helped us up w our bags but we forgot one. We went back down and due to not having a key, I sat down waiting for the additional room key to be ready. I was Exhausted. I could barely stand. When Kelsang saw me walking around the lobby he asked what I was doing. When I told him I was waiting for the front desk to have my room ready, he walked away only to return two minutes later with the room keys saving the day. As someone who has a career in hospitality, I could tell that Kelsang is an above and beyond employee who ensures the guest's experience is spectacular. This man needs a raise!!!

Made a reservation 4 months in advance. We arrived at 2:00 pm couldn’t get to our room until 4:00 pm after a long trip. Their excuse was that they did not have clean rooms. The bellman couldn’t locate our luggage’s. This place is a mess.

We were very happy when we landed in Zurich to have a notification that our room was ready and that we had been upgraded to a Lounge access junior suite. We checked in and again were told that we had been upgraded to a suite with Lounge access. The room was on the fourth floor and was huge, but quite dark and old fashioned. We tried to use the Lounge and our keys wouldn’t work. The concierge said that we hadn’t got Lounge access even though we were in a suite but that he would change the keys. He brought the keys back and said they would give access for the day and he would change the system details to give us access for our whole stay. He didn’t come back and when we went out of the Lounge to find him, the key wouldn’t work to get back in. We asked at reception and were told that the upgrade was to the room only and didn’t include Lounge access and it was a mistake that we had been told that it did. We told them that in that case we didn’t want the upgrade and would revert to our original booking for a refurbished room in the north wing. That room wasn’t ready so they agreed to move our luggage whilst we were out. We got back about 4:30 and the new room was ready and the luggage was there. The new room, 4210 was much brighter, with better views and décor. It was a standard size room with views over the roof garden to the hills beyond. The décor was mostly light wood and greys. There was a coffee machine but we had to request a kettle (via chat on the app, which worked well) and it arrived within a few minutes. Plenty of usb and usb-c charging ports and good reading lights. Not much storage for clothes - two drawers are taken out by minibar food items and mugs/glasses etc. So no drawers for clothes and only a couple of shelves. The room was quite cold and we couldn’t figure out the a/c which only seemed to offer a +3 option - which made no difference. The bathroom was small but had a brilliant shower and a motion sensor night light. Breakfast: very comprehensive buffet with freshly cooked eggs. Excellent rosti and crispy bacon. Very attentive waiting staff. The location is a little bit out of the centre, but there is an excellent tram service from just behind the hotel and the station is a ten minute walk.

I was recently traveling on business with with my wife and young daughter, with a late night arrival. I had booked a junior suite. As we arrived I was told that the Hotel was "oversold" but they "saved an excellent room" for me (I have elite status with Marriott Bonvoy). We arrive to the room, proceed to unpack and get settled in, only to discover the toilet was running and couldn't be flushed. A nice member of the staff (Mark) came up and was apologetic about he toilet, inspected the toilet and mentioned that the toilet was broken beyond repair. We asked to switch rooms, and as mentioned earlier the hotel was oversold, so switching, even downgrading room categories was not an option. We had no choice but to pack our stuff, look for different lodging arrangements, now after 12 am, which was not easy. The nice member of the staff (Mark) offered to take care of our taxi, and paid for the taxi to a new hotel. Mark was the only positive thing I can say about this property. As I left, the property the night manager (Sven) was apologetic, and ensured I would not be charged for the room. He also offered to call another Marriott property to assist with our alternative lodging arrangements. Which turned out to be a lie. As we arrive at the new property (which was much nicer), the night manager of the new property mentioned that he never received a call from anyone. It took another 30-45 minutes to finally get the reservation handled At the front desk of the different Marriott property. All while my kid is falling asleep standing up. A few things that are worth noting: 1- The room should never have been sold to anyone, let alone a Bonvoy member with close to 70 room nights in the calendar year. A functioning toilet should be standard, especially in a property that touts itself as 5 Star property… 2- There should have been no mention of calling another property without following through. That alone put a bad taste in my mouth enough to write this review. Essentially it demonstrated that the night manager Sven lacked any sensitivity to the situation. Technical issues happen, but not making the call is just downright disrespectful and lazy. I should have known not to trust him when he awkwardly mentioned how "great the room" was. 3- I followed up with the property to speak with the manager, left word for a call or email back and have received zero outreach to date. Perhaps this will warrant a response. As for the few minutes we spent on the property, the hallway smelled like a ripe curry, or some sort of aromatic food. Perhaps somebody just ordered room service, but the smell punched you in the face when you got off the elevator. The property is 35+ stories tall, so you can hear the wind whipping around the building. Through the old unsealed windows. For those not used to being on a high floor it may take some getting used to. The bed was soft and worn out, and very creaky, as if the springs were from the 1990s. It definitely was not a 5 star hotel bed by any means. It was the worst bed I've had in a hotel in quite long time. Lastly, and again, the one toilet in the room was inoperable. I'd never recommend this property to anyone. I would furthermore petition that Marriott take a look at their star ratings, and seriously reconsider this property's 5 star designation. PS - Rakim at the Neues Schloss was an absolute legend. Very welcoming and really went above and beyond to get my family and I into a room after the debacle at the Marriott.
