We had two nights in Zurich as a stopover to the end of our holiday. The hotel is conveniently located within an easy walk of the railway station with our luggage. We caught the train both to and from the airport and this was very easy with two large suitcases and hand luggage for my wife and I. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed and amenities. Very clean, well appointed and very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are well insulated from the outside noise. My only disappointment was the bathroom, our shower was very small and unfortunately the show door and glass frame leaked and the bathroom floor became very wet when we had a shower. I think this is a design problem and it was frustrating that when you went to the bathroom your feet got wet. The breakfast was very good, small selection but of a very high quality. That said I thought the price of a cappuccino was somewhat expensive and it was ordinary at best. Overall very conveniently located at the junction of the old city and Bahnhofstrasse adjacent to the railway station. I will stay there again.…
A great experience. Comfortable room with a balcony. The fed was excellent with breakfast served at the weekend until 12. Other hotels take note! The service from all the staff was exceptional. Thank you one and all.
Of course there is little to no air-conditioning in Europe overall...so yes the room was stuffy during a heatwave, but the condition of the room and service were impeccable and the breakfast service was first class.
We received a warm welcome on arrival and we were impressed by the tasteful decor in the reception area. Unfortunately, this did not extend to our room. It was small, cramped, dark and very hot. We had a tiny window that overlooked the street and an ugly building. We were given a fan, but it didn’t make much difference. The hotel is in an excellent location, directly across the road from the station. There are lots of bars and restaurants within walking distance and we found that the ones closer to the river were more expensive. We enjoyed walking along the river and down to the lake to admire the boats and the many swans and ducks. At breakfast time there was a selection of cereals, yogurts, breads and cold meat and cheese. In addition, there was scrambled egg and bacon. The chef will also cook an omelette or eggs fresh if required. The coffee and juices were served by a waiter and were of a good quality. We had a drink in the bar one evening (almost £50 for 6 beers) and were surprised that they closed at around 10:30. The staff were efficient and courteous. We had not realised that Swiss electrics are different to the rest of Europe, so we had to borrow an adapter from reception for a 15 franc deposit. It was only later on that we realised there was actually a British socket built into the fridge unit! Such a good idea! The room was cleaned to a high standard each day, although there was a strange smell. We put it down to the heat, because all surfaces were spotless. The health club is across the road, not part of the hotel.…
The location of the Central Plaza is central just as advertised. We paid for three rooms and disappointed the hotel did not offer a complimentary breakfast. The rooms were clean, but were very warm, as was the sitting room outside our room.
My Wife and 2 adult children stayed here during a 2.5 week Europe trip and this was one of our favorite stays. The location was perfect for us, close to the train station that we used to take day trips, super convenient. The food at the restaraunt was good, the room was clean and the staff was super friendly. Highly reccomend.
The Central Plaza Hotel is true to its name, very central to the City of Zurich and located just in front of the main train station. The rooms are nice, a little small and the hallway always feels cramped. The décor of the common areas, lobby, restaurant and bars is a bit much. Loud marble floors and animal print fabrics but the spaces are comfortable, the breakfast very good and the staff excellent.
We had a room that was supposedly an upgrade. However this was probably the worst hotel room we have ever stayed in in all our many trips around the world. The bathroom was unusable. The shower head would not fix to the wall which meant that we could not use it. In addition the basin would not retain water making washing and shaving laboriously difficult. Soon after we arrived we reported the problems. One of the lobby staff came to the room who was frankly dismissive and rude and stated that he would not do anything about it. I made further protests upon checking out but again it fell on deaf ears. Given the rates that this hotel charges this personal treatmet was utterly disgraceful. MY STRONG ADVICE TO ANYONE CONSIDERING IT IS DO NOT GO THERE.
We recently stayed at the Central Plaza Hotel in Zurich and had a great experience. The location was perfect - close to public transit, right on the riverfront and by a bridge for easy access to the other side. The room was small but well appointed. The breakfast provided was great too. We stayed on a weekend night and I expected a lot of noise from the street but it was quiet. My only suggestion would be for the hotel to provide bar soap.
This hotel is wonderful! From the decor, to the staff, to the food and drinks...great! As for location it couldn't get any better! In the photo you see one of the main stops for the local trains so you step out of the door of your hotel and onto a train to take you around the city! BEST OF ALL we were less than a block away from the Zurich HB main train station. Easy peasy walk, even with luggage, jump on a train with our Swiss Travel Pass and go somewhere every day in this beautiful country.
