Zurich was our last stop on a 4 week travelling tour in France and Switzerland. We wanted a comfortable, central hotel to finish off our busy month of travelling. Hotel Krone Unterstrass was just perfect for our needs. It is very close to the city centre, a few minutes tram travel (line 14) from the Hauptbahnhof (Zurich HB) The location is quieter than the immediate city centre but easily accessible, even when you are travelling with your suitcases on public transport. We had booked a Premium Double. We were given a room in the flash Townhouse section which is attached to the main hotel via corridor and lift. Our room had a kitchenette with fridge, a lovely roomy bathroom with shower, the most comfortable bed and loads of hanging space for clothes and a well placed desk…

Overall Good Hotel, staffs are really helpful & friendly.They are always ready to assist u. Our room AC was not working, they immediately shifted us to another room........This makes a difference.Location good, just take a tram outside the hotel .... u can reach the heart of the town/shopping areas in minutes. Good breakfast as well, they serve.

The hotel is a stylish house with tradition and Swiss quality! The staff and service is top class, the rooms are spacious, quite despite the tram line running close and it was once more an enjoyable stay for me in Zürich.

This was our last day of Swiss holidays and we chose Hotel Krone Zurich but to our disappointment this was our worst choice. Their AC was not working and even after we complained they could not rectify it neither could theu shift us to another room due to full bookings. Not recommended.

Dear guest We are very sorry for the inconveniences caused during your stay. As we have mentioned already we had a technical problem with all AC's so we were unfortunately not able to arrange for a roomchange for your one night stay. The temperature outside was around 25C during daytime and around 15C during nighttime. We did our utmost to solve the problem immediately but we only managed the next day. Again we are truly sorry but I do want to highlight that most of the hotels in Zurich are not equipped with AC nor is it a standard in european hotels or homes- so I do think that your comment: not recommended is a bit harsh. Stayed here four nights. Nice hotel. Had a room on the fifth floor, very narrow bathroom, a larger room than the other room booked on second floor but that had a big bathroom so each room differs. The breakfast was average, small selection, you could order omlettes/ fried eggs/smoked salmon at extra cost. Some times service was slow. The restaurant at the hotel was of a high standard, we ate there twice, The receptionists were helpful with information, changing notes for coins and arranging for a late check out/ storing our luggage after check out. The hotels location was not central, we didnt mind this as we walked in to town- 20 minutes, there are tram stops outside if you wanted to use them instead, which is a plus for the hotel. Despite the fact that the hotel is not located directly where everything takes place (old town, shopping), it is very convenient as there are very regular trams passing right in front of the hotel - we never had to wait more than 3 minutes. The hotel is quite nice although not extremely fancy. The room I had was recently refurbished and confortable. Also it was quiet as it was at the back and away from the street noise (essentially tram noise). Breakfast was very good and fresh. Our stay at this hotel was the highlight of our trip. Rooms looked like they had been recently refurbished with all mod cons and little extra touches that made the stay very welcoming! We spent each night at the restaurant where the food was awesome and the service even better. The two brothers who were our waiters were among the best I have experienced and made our meal times very enjoyable, whilst also being very professional at what they do. Clearly they love what they do and are very experienced in customer service. This hotel became the benchmark for our trip and the expression - 'it ain't no hotel Krone' our summary of anywhere else we went. Next time we return to Zurich, this hotel will be our first choice.

on check in I was told that I need to give debit card details only for security, after mentioning that I will pay the security deposit in cash if required, but they deducted 375CHF from my account without asking me and even after 5 days of check out I have not received the money back.. on checkout they said it will be refunded immediately but later when I called they say it can take 7-10 days or longer and that they cannot help it is all automatic.

Furthermore I would like to inform you that we only take credit cards on arrival since we are unable to block an amount on a debit card.
