The location is great, a walking distance to the Opera and shopping areas. I was however disappointed with the hotel. The entrance looks like it's from the 80's with green marble and odd looking doors. The reception area has the same odd look. However, the restaurant and bar have a very nice looking decor - I wondered if they had run out of money with the refurbishment and could not complete the lobby. The room had a very nice esthetic and really nice bathroom, which was clearly designed for women with lots of counter space - great job with this. However, the bed was atrocious, you can feel every single box spring, it was so hard. The pillows were way too soft. My room was clearly above the restaurant (I was on the first floor) and I could hear a blender every few minutes - both at night and in the morning! So impossible to sleep in when you are woken up with a blender sound first thing in the morning. Housekeeping did not really care about the early hours. When you pay 300 CHF a night, you expect a good night of sleep, which I clearly did not get. The breakfast was however good. …

Our taxi driver told us thia used to be the Steigenberger hotel. They must have quite recently changed names as the hotel in parts still feels quite old fashioned and dusty, but some of the rooms have been renovated. We arrived at the hotel around 10:30 after an exhausting flight with 3 children. We expected to get something to eat, but they were totally unwilling to help. Not even a snack or cheese platter was available. The reception is pokey amd feels like a cheap 2 star hotel. You have to walk through a tunnel like space to get inside. A very weird setup. The next morning at 8 am on a Saturday I was woken by drilling and hammering in the room above. They must have been doing some building works, but at 8 am on a Saturday this is ridiculous and shows how little they care anout their guests. There was no telephone in the room and no way to contact reception. Also something that you wouldn’t expect from a 4 star hotel. The room’s interior was okay but not memorable, without any view to speak of. We booked it because usually we trust that Mr and Mrs Smith properties are up to a certain standard, but this was certainly a disappointment.…

Our hotel has been operating under the name AMERON Hotel since May 2021. Before that, the hotel was closed for 1.5 years and was renovated. The Steigenberger company is no longer located on Lake Zurich since December 2019. We could already offer you the minibar and a reduction on the room rate upon departure. I think this is a classic old time hotel - elegant, comfortable, clean, welcoming and a great staff and breakfast room. Rooms were well equipped, the bed was extremely comfortable and the room was spacious. The hotel location was superb, a short walking distance to old town and only a couple of blocks from the tram. The view was fabulous. The reason, however, that I am not giving this hotel a 5-star rating is that the AC had been turned off as of Oct 1 but it was still very warm. Thank goodness the desk clerk found me an oscillating fan. But above all, the room was extremely poorly lighted. The lights in the bathroom were "in front" of the mirror, not overhead. It was difficult to use the main mirror for anything much. The mirrors in main sleeping room were decoratively smokey, and were very dark making them difficult to use. Overall, there was insufficient lighting in the room. When we arrived, one of the two low wattage bulbs above the chair was out. It took two days for a replacement which helped some. But even after the replacement, the room was simply too dark in the evening. Great hotel, great location, great everything. But if you like to read, shave, or put on makeup....bring a small light. …

We loved the hotel. Adam checked us in and was professional and welcoming. We saw him several times and he was very helpful and courteous. Our room was so comfortable. The doors opened onto a nice balcony, and we appreciated the fresh air. The bathroom is a bit dim, but beautifully appointed and the floor was heated. The hotel is right at the edge of old town and across the street from the lake which offered a beautiful walk along the water. The breakfast was good and the dining room is beautiful. A wonderful experience.

I was invited today for press lunch at Ameron Zurich. Since I stayed for a reportage at their hotel in Davos, I thought I knew what to expect. But level of quality seems to have downgrade further… I select the vegetarian menu and could not eat their stuffed aubergine. I think I can personally cook better and shocking thing was is that the sommelier took my plate without even asking if I want anything else…

Are stay at the ameron with everything we could hope for, comfortable beds great pillows wonderful shower lovely view and outstanding staff. Breakfast was delightful the drinks at the bar or terrific. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel the location is ideal for sight seeing as well as relaxing walks along the lakeside. We loved it.

Rooms, breakfast and quality of staff were sub par and certainly not in line with the pricing. Storage for clothing was too small (we had two rooms, for three and stil had to keep our clothes in our suitcases). The breakfast staff refused to fill up bakery as “people ate too much”, juice, coffee machines were empty and malfunctioning more often than not. Cheese & charcuterie was messy too. The reception clerk refused to believe me that my room card malfunctioned… etc …, there were other mishaps that I would happily ignore in a different price category

Loved this hotel! Amerion is located just south of the city center—you can walk there within a couple minutes and on the way is the Opera House, the train station, and shops and restaurant. Across the street from the hotel is the river which has a safe and lit promenade. The hotel is very nice, an upscale feeling with a mid-range price. The staff is very professional and the rooms are very modern. My own complaint is that I with the bathroom had more lighting for putting on make up. The restaurant offered a wonderful breakfast and excellent dinner as well. From here we went to the Christmas Market, the Chocolate World, and just wandered around the old city.
