The Sorell Zurichberg is a quiet hotel that appears to cater mainly to business meetings. For that reason it is surprising that it's internet is sketchy and even Swisscom connections sometimes fail, apparently because it's situated halfway up Zurïchberg. The rooms are well appointed and I had one of the largest rooms with a view of the Swiss Alps and Lake Zurich. The view of the Swiss Alps is one of the most beautiful, but because of the small windows (see one of the pictures attached) most rooms don't have this view in its full glory. The area around the hotel is beautiful for walking. There's a woods nearby but even walking along the streets, wish I generally well lit, is relaxing. There's a sports center nearby with tennis and other activities. The zoo is a 5-minute walk away as is the cemetery where the Irish author James Joyce is buried along with some other celebrities. Bathroom is a good size with a bathtub and a rainfall shower or spray. There was a Nespresso coffee machine in the room and a fridge with a basic selection of for-pay snacks. The bed is comfortable and you have a selection of pillows, which you can ask for from reception. There's ample closet space with a small safe for valuables. I was also a shoehorn and the bag for laundry, which as is the case in many hotels is very expensive if you have them do it for you. A restaurant is a bit disappointing. The breakfast is good and varied, but other meals served in the restaurant are just above a fast food level. The vegetable couscous served in the bar was disappointing. This hotel is a quiet respite from the noise and business of downtown Zurich, but it has some kinks that need to be worked for it to live up to its four-star rating. Guests should be aware that they are very much outside the center of Zurich, about a half hour by tram. The number 6 tram however runs quite frequently.…

We had fish and poulet. The trouts were impeccable. The poulet wasn't bad but the vegetables around were too ambitious and lacking a well-defined flavor. All in all it's a nice place with awesome view of Zurich and the Lake. After eating out on the lake it was a refreshing change climbing up with Tram 6 to the Zurichberg and enjoy the mountain view and fresh air.

we went September 2021, the site did not allow me to put correct date. it was a very lovely hotel, not luxury, but comfortable, with very nice views scenic , up on a hill. Very nice neighborhood with forests and vineyards. The restaurant was in a wonderful o location but the food and service we felt was very poor. they should get a new chef or management. The inside cafeteria for breakfast was very good..

Stayed 1 night for business in this not central location in a quiet place near the Zurich Zoo and FIFA. My room was on the 2nd floor, facing the lake with a small balcony. Single bedded room as booked and large TV, small desk, mini-bar, safe, good sized bathroom with big shower. Rituals products. Wifi was good and I enjoyed the parking garage at CHF 10.-/night. Had a drink at the bar which was nicely decorated and had a lovely breakfast in the restaurant. Good choice, fresh local products. Staff was friendly and I will recommend this place. Probably will come back

Our September stay was our second visit to Zurichberg and our fifth visit to a Sorrell property. Switzerland and Zurich in particular are very expensive even with the current favorable exchange rate. So first, I want give high marks to Zurichberg for good value. Sorrell transformed a unique property into a very attractive hotel with super views, a restaurant with an excellent menu and unique rooms, some with lake views. Value seems to be a theme for Sorrell. To be fair, we had an issue at their nearby Rigiblick property in 2021. Due to COVID, that property went to an automated mode meaning no staff. Everything done remotely. Room entry, garage exit, etc. all done by text and scannable bar coding. It didn't work. Out of frustration, we asked to be moved to Zurichberg. On arrival a short time later the property manager and front desk manager were waiting. After apologizing, the front desk manager assigned our room but with regrets could not assign the suite upgrade he promised due to a change in a check out date. That story relates to our 2022 return to Zurichberg because the same front desk manager remembered us when he saw our reservation and made sure we received the upgrade.. one year later. A small thing maybe, but it shows important attention to details. To me, any decline in legendary Swiss hospitality standards would be akin to a decline in civilization itself! So Zurichberg saved everything. We recommend the Sorrell group and look forward to returning.…

We had booked way in advance 2 connected rooms for the kids and us. When we arrived, we had the bad surprise to discover that our rooms had been allocated to another family. They could only propose one small room or 2 rooms not side by side which was not an option with two todlers. Not only they tried to deny that we had booked connecting rooms (even if we had received the hotel confirmation) but the never appologized which is unacceptable. I will never come back to this hotel and even fewer recommend it to my friends.

Be careful booking this hotel. Most of the rooms do not have air conditioner. They are extremely hot. The rooms on -1 floor are on the ground. Impossible to open a balcony or a window due to mosquitoes amount. The rooms with air conditioner - the a/c is a joke and room smells from the previous guests with pets. Very unpleasant experience. The only good thing is a view from the terrace in the restaurant and the breakfast.

Our air conditioners are vents that cools the inside temperature to the outside temperature by 5 degrees. For the sake of the environment, we do not cool the rooms down to 20 degrees. We celebrated our 25th anniversary at this hotel and in Zurich and was blown away by the views, the staff, and the room and balcony. It was a short 15 minute train ride to the Old Town Center. We enjoyed being in a quieter part of town and riding to where the "action" was.

Attended business meeting in late May. Quirky hotel just outside the city with fantastic views of the lake and snow capped mountains in the background. The restaurant was very good, we enjoyed everything that we ate. The room was small and had only a twin bed rather than a full double, very unusual to see this these days. 4* due to small room, small bed and lack of pool area but the hotel doesn’t market itself as anything more. Would happily return.
