Stayed here as a group of 6 girls and honestly it was brilliant. Right in the middle of the red light district and close to the main square! Couldn't fault the rooms they were spotless and had beds cleaned and fresh towels every day. WiFi was great and staff helpful! Will return again!

We stayed here weekend gone and could not fault the place, the rooms where clean, lovely soft beds, clean towels each day and beds made, both our rooms had wetrooms too. It is what it is a cheap hotel in the middle of the red-light district but as a base you couldn't ask for more for what you pay, I'd...

I have just returned from a 3 night stay in Amsterdam. It was my 5th visit to the city, but the first time I have stayed in this hotel. The location of the hotel is perfect, and it's also cheap. The hotel it's self is very basic. If you are looking for cheap and cheerful, but want great location then...

Good staff, great location, near to center and to metro station. Nice food. Very good staff. Good price. Change towels every day. Allowed smoke in lounge. Good location for trips and cruises. Except the stairs is ok.

The hotel is located very conveniently at a reasonable walking distance from the Central Station, even with luggage. The personnel were very friendly and helpful. The room was adequate but fairly spartan and two floors of steep steps up, but probably in line with the charge per night.

The people who owned the hotel were lovely don't get me wrong. It's smack bang in the middle of it and you've really got to be prepared for that so its not too shocking for you, definitely not somewhere for a family to stay or an older couple. The rooms and toilets were absolutely filthy, we had ANTS crawling on...

Although the hotel is not in the best shape (it looks a little bit shabby), it is clean, service is nice, and it is in the very center. Lots of bars and restaurants are around, a supermarket is just 2 corners away, on Nieuwmarkt. I would go there again.

I was in Amsterdam as part of a stag do and wanted a hotel in the middle of things. It's location is right in the middle of the Red Light Area, literally above a sex shop and surrounded by bars and sex shows. I had a single room which was basic but clean and had its own bathroom. It's a...

Low price, very good position near the city center, poor breakfast (only bread, no toaster), no Tv, no bar, but you can smoke in the hall. Is a good choise for young people, absolutely not for couples.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
