My husband booked a Groupon for the Posthoorn for a night to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. From the minute we arrived the staff served our every need! We had a meal in the Michelin Star restaurant which was the highlight of our stay! To say the food was beautiful would be an understatement and it just kept coming! Accompanied...

What a great way to start off our Honeymoon! Francois was very welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the city. B&B is located within a short walking distance from the train station, which is great because we took it directly from the airport, saved us some $$$ instead of a taxi. We stayed in the front room with the private bathroom...

We stayed in the large front room which was bright, clean, very quiet, and well appointed. Our host Francois was very knowledgeable and helpful in orienting us to the city. Located about 15-20 minutes walk from the main train station (10 Euro by taxi), the B&B overlooks the Prisengracht Canal and the northern market square (across the canal). We were...

I am so glad we stayed here - great location, beautiful room, excellent service, charming host - I could not have asked for more. The B&B is in a beautiful and safe area and very close to things we wanted to be near (The Jordaan, 9 Streets, markets, canals etc), and a good distance from those we didn't want to...

I know it is ranked as #5 in Amsterdam but I can not see how somewhere else is better especially regarding location and host. Francois is a tremendous host. Listen to his suggestions for restaurants. We tried 3 of the 5 he suggested in the area and each as better than the last. We also found a couple that we...

We felt that by staying here we were able to get in touch with the real Amsterdam. The location is perfect - walkable from Central Station, but in a real neighborhood. Anne Frank house is a few blocks down the street. We loved talking to Francois and learning about the lives and routines of Amsterdam citizens. The hidden church room...

My husband & I stayed at The Poosthorn for 3 nights in June 2012 & were happy we chose this place. It is in a great location, in a hip part of Amsterdam right on the canals and only a short stroll from many attractions. Just out of the complete hustle and bustle but everything is on your doorstop -...

We stayed at the Posthoorn for five nights in early June; our third stay there. As always, Francois was a wonderful host, the room was comfortable, clean, charming, the location in the middle of everything we wanted to see, and as an added bonus, we got to babysit his 3-month old kitten, Bergamot, for a few minutes when she unexpectedly...

We stayed 4 nights in June/July 2012 in the front canal room. The room is a little smaller than ideal but is made up for by the great, ever changing view out the window right over the canal. Francois was the perfect host and assisted us with making dining suggestions and dinner reservations - all of them very good and...

Everything about The Posthoorn B&B was simply outstanding - from the service, to the spacious room, to the delicious daily breakfast! My husband and I stayed in the Patio Room (off the back of the house) for 5 nights in June. The room was warm, inviting, comfortable, and very clean. Francois proved to be the perfect host! He assisted us...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Housed within the fine walls of a listed historical 17th century canal house on one of Amsterdam's most picturesque canals in the heart of the city - the Prinsengracht - part of the UNESCO World Heritage, The Posthoorn Bed and Breakfast features three charming rooms which offer guests four-star luxury whilst staying in the Jordaan district. The Canal View Room, Patio Room and Hidden Church Room ooze opulent and stylish character within the pleasant atmosphere of this contemporary bed and breakfast flawlessly disguised in the old-fashioned exterior of this canal house. The history behind this interesting building dates back to 1578, during which time Catholics were refused to visit their churches so several hidden churches were built in private houses. Around 1650, one was built in the basement of what stands as The Posthoon today and if you wish the owner will be pleased to tell you the history of the house. The elegant decor of The Posthoorn is boasted throughout each and every room. The livingspaces feature a flat-screen cable TV, en-suite bathroom with under-floor heating, comfortable sofas, free wireless internet. In each room you will find a kitchenette including coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator complete with white wine, beer, orange juice, milk and mineral water. Full continental breakfast including freshly baked bread and croissants is served to guests in their room each morning. Staff aim to make guests' stay at the Posthoorn memorable. ... more   less
