We stayed at Mauro Mansion for 3 days and loved it. The owners are great, they made a wonderful breakfast... don't miss the pancakes!! We had Room 12 which we loved... no noise from the outside. They work on an Honors system which is really nice these days. Location is just perfect. We'll go back there anytime we visit Amsterdam!

We just returned from our Amsterdam stay, spending 3 nights in Mauro Mansion. The hotel is clean, well looked after and the owners are nice without being overbearing. Things we really liked: Honesty Bar - great to have the option to grab a drink/snack after you get in from walking round all day. The way all the rooms are different...

Spent 3 nights at the Mauro Mansion with the girlfriend. Rooms are fantastic, service is excellent, great location will certainly be returning in the future! Stayed in room 12 which is on the ground floor, was worried about noise from the street but we didn't have a single problem.

This is a charming hotel with comfortable, quiet rooms. Great location right near the central train station (which connects with the airport). About a 30-40 minute [delightful] walk to the Van Gogh museum, Rijksmuseum, etc. Green greenmarket just a five minute walk. A real plus for winter travelers was the radiant heat from the bathroom floors!

Stayed 3 nights at this excellent hotel situated about 400 metres from the Central Station and very easy to find. We stayed in Room 21 on the first floor which had to very large windows overlooking the Canal. Steep flight of 21 steps but well worth it. Unusual decor with a barbers chair by the window! Fridge pre stocked with...

We couldn't fault this hotel. Everything was just as advertised. The location is ideal, rooms were beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. Would thoroughly recommend as long as you can climb steep stairs.

My wife and I were spending a day in Amsterdam in transit to Thailand and stayed at Mauro Mansion. Marcel and his team are fantastic and had the room ready for us way before the standard check in time. The location could not be better, a ten minute walk from the train station with the red light district and tons...

Everything about our stay was amazing. The team at Mauro will help you with anything you need. We arrived in Amsterdam after almost 20 hours of Travel, at 8am. Mauro is so close to the central train station, we were on the doorstop within minutes. They met us at the door, took our bags straight up the incredibly narrow stairs,...

Great location close to train station. Nice owners and spacious rooms. Huge bathrooms for European standards. The honor bar is great. Walking distance to red light district and plenty of restaurants in the area.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
