This hotel is in a great location, is clean, and has a unique interior! It takes about 5 minutes to walk from the central train station, and 5 minutes to the red light district. The owners are very welcoming and will help you get around the city if you require it! We stayed on the top floor facing away from...

Very conveniently located. Most attractions within a half hours walk. Minutes from train station, Oldchurch , restaurants. Management was helpful. Very nice modern bathroom. Very narrow and steep staircase , but the management helped get luggage up the steps No view from the top floor.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The hosts were very welcoming. We stayed in room 22. Great room. Free welcome drinks in small fridge. Plenty of free tea and coffee and toiletries also in room. The view out of the window was lovely overlooking the canal. Very quiet at night. Very comfy bed. We had breakfast there both days. Cannot fault...

I found this hotel through TripAdvisor and SO happy I did. I was only able to stay 1 night but had the best experience. The photos in other reviews do not do it justice and I was pleasantly surprised at how updated, clean, and quaint my room was (34). Perfect location for walking around (everything within a 15/20 min walk)...

In the heart of central Amsterdam near Central Station, a beautiful old house turned into a small hotel. We had a spacious, sunny room overlooking a canal with a well appointed bath. The owners and staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was an extra 7.5 euros but well worth it. More funky than fancy, but that fits the city...

We loved our three-night stay in Mauro Mansion and would say it is one of the very best small hotels we have stayed at in Europe (over 16 trips). The room (on the second floor -- first in US terms) was sunny and had a beautiful view of the canal. In addition, it was spacious, comfortable, spotless, and interestingly decorated....

We stayed here at the start of December for a weekend break in Amsterdam. Mauro is ideally located, just a short walk from the central station and it's position on a canal is ideal for some classic Amsterdam insta photos! The welcome was friendly, the breakfast was really good (loved the waffles). The room isn't total luxury but it had...

Mauro Mansion is just steps from the Centraal Station and a good starting place to explore Amsterdam. There are lots of bars and restaurants nearby with outdoor seating for lounging and people watching. The hotel is fun because of it's age and character. Comfortable but not posh. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have cheap snacks and drinks...

We stayed at Mauro for three nights and it was fantastic! Friendly staff when we got there who made us feel at home straight away. He gave us a map and answered any questions we had :) There was a free mini bar in the room and on Valentines they left us some lovely dutch chocolates and rose petals on...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
