Located in the center of action. Staff are very very nice. Food and room service are top notch. Even got a Butler that came with the room. The room was clean and fresh and the bathroom was so out of this world. Really luxury hotel and I would definitely visit again!

We had the High Tea. The tea and food ware ok, not very special. We were served by a member of staff who was not very polite. Also her tone was a little aggressive sometimes. This was quite disappointing, as in a five star hotel we expect excellent service.

As usual my best place to stay in during my visit to Amsterdam is the Sofitel , the historical feeling behind the old walls, the decorations, the great service and the location in the middle of the city center. The best hotel in Amsterdam

Love me a Sofitel! High standards, great rooms and amazing location! Staff was nice too. I never did figure out if you could ring back to the states for free or not though It was our anniversary and they put out a cute plate of treats for our check in :) Bed was massive and plush!

Stayed in The Grand for New Year, and couldn't have been in a better place! Just love this hotel! All the staff are so friendly, helpful and courteous, but with none of the stuffy formality you get from similarly priced hotels world- wide, some of this because they are Dutch, but mostly I suspect from excellent management, and a good...

It's really great hotel. The staff are awesome. Facilities or without equal. And the location is just perfect. We left some of our goodies from shopping there and they're going to mail them to us. I can't thank them enough.

Sofitel are rarely located in such beautiful and historical buildings. So it was really a nice experience to enter in it and discover the place. The hotel itself is meeting the expectations of a Sofitel with great service and amenities. The location is also perfect to discover the city by foot or boat

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
