Everything about this hotel is just fine. Location is perfect, the building is a masterpiece,,, All staff, rooms, bistro, bar and facilities are just perfect. I was there for 2 nights and feel the comfort of my home thanks to The Grand. This will definitely be my hotel for all future trips to Amsterdam.

First the saga of woe. Having arrived in Amsterdam for 3 nights we found that our luggage had not arrived. My luggage arrived at the hotel 3 days later shortly before our departure. Excellent short break. Travelled as a family, booked the Prestige suite, but were upgraded. Everything about the hotel was excellent - location, staff and food! The hotel is stunning and so is the service - high attention to detail. The Spa facilities are also excellent.

What a hotel! Beautiful building right on the fringes of Amsterdam's busiest streets and a walking distance from all the city's favorite hot spots. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, our room was in perfect working condition and overlooked a canal, the dining spots were adequate and offered what we wanted .. We stayed for 2 nights in December and paid extra for a "Superior" room with canal views, I wish we hadn't! We were pretty much at street level so didn't enjoy the views as we were "on view". Upon arrival we were told we had a free upgrade! From the moment we arrived until we had to (sadly) leave the service was incredible. Grand is the only adjective to describe our stay in this five star hotel. From the moment we arrived this property did not disappoint, actually it was "grand" in every respect. I would strongly recommend to stay at this hotel as it has everything one can expect in a luxury hotel. The service is really amazing and rooms are nice, spotlessly clean and cosy. While boasting of a great location, which is a nice 5 minute walk from Dam square, Sofitel has everything a tourist wants.

To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures.
