Really nice hotel, perfect location for us, lobby area offers a perfect chilled vibe, walls covered in artwork and books from authors who have stayed at the hotel. Staff were very accommodating and made us feel welcome. Room had high ceilings, were a good size and had a luxurious feel to it.

This is a top quality hotel on the canals in Amsterdam. The room was quite small, as is the norm in a European city, but perfectly formed. Everything you would expect and a little more. Staff, service and quality all excellent. Also booked us a Tesla to the airport which was great fun. A thoroughly enjoyable stay... and please do...

We had a fantastic stay at the Ambassade in Amsterdam. It's central location, beautiful rooms, delicious food, and amazing staff made it one of the favourite hotels we have ever stayed in. The staff welcomed us upon arrival and they were so patient and accommodating with the children that even our children felt comfortable and at home. I compliment this...

We loved this hotel. It's located on the canal in a very central part of Amsterdam. The room was very lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable. We especially loved sitting in the small lounge near the lobby to have a drink or cappuccino in the evenings. The only consideration is that, because of its location along the canal in...

Firstly, the hotel: take a taxi from the train station - it's a long walk! The hotel is absolutely beautiful, immaculate, spotlessly clean, with wonderful staff - very helpful, fluent English (thank goodness) and charming. There is a wonderful bar area with a library (many first editions, signed by the authors - apparently this is the go-to hotel for authors),...

The hotel common areas are beautiful. Very sophisticated decor and atmosphere and excellent service. Everyone is very polite yet friendly and helpful. The library/bar is a wonderful place to have some tea or wine at the end of the day before dinner time. We had breakfast at the hotel's restaurant every day. It was delicious with a good selection of...

Everything perfect: service, bar, room. The place is filled with oustanding artworks (the owner is an important collector of the CoBrA group). Ideal hotel if you are looking for an elegant, quiet place. The brasserie is also really good.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
