The Ambassade Hotel is my top reference for a charming and pleasant stay in Amsterdam. I had the chance to stay there many years ago and I had been lookin forward to stay there again, which I did during the first week of this year. The location is perfect. The staff is very efficient and kind. They sent me a...

My wife and I and our daughter and son-in-law stayed two nights in Amsterdam in early January 2017. This hotel is centrally located where shopping, restaurants and museums are in easy walking distance. The accommodations and service is first class with the all of the charm of a boutique hotel. The combination of old Amsterdam buildings with modern conveniences such...

The hotel was absolutely wonderful ... The building itself is quite interesting how it was transformed into a hotel ... And the room looked so nice even though not so big but it had very nice organization and colors. It was very quite and I enjoyed a comfortable sleep. About the staff in the hotel, I believe they were just...

Small but classy, this hotel provides excellent accommodation away from the noisy centre of town, yet only a short walk away. Our room was quite spacious and quiet looking over a lovely canal. The bed was comfortable and the room was bright and cheerful. The location was excellent with many lovely little restaurants, bakeries and interesting shops in the vicinity....

Classic, chic yet somehow modern too. This was a great hotel to stay at for a couple of days while we were on route home through Amsterdam. We've been to Amsterdam at least a dozen times and bar none, this is my favourite hotel. It's centrally located, great service and a nice restaurant to boot. The bar is also quite...

My husband, parents and I stayed here New Years Day and had the most lovely experience. Our service was fantastic-I can't say enough nice things about all the employees at the hotel. From the coffee upon our entrance, the help with the parking meter, and the amazing cocktails in the library bar- everyone was incredibly pleasant. Our room was equally...

Location wise you really cannot ask for a better hotel. Herengracht is probably one of the most beautiful canals in Amsterdam and Ambassade is a cosy, feel at home boutique hotel. We booked two rooms for a week's stay between xmas and New Year. My husband and I had a deluxe double canal view room which was really very good....

The service at the Ambassade exceeded my expectations. We arrived late at night and had trouble parking our car - the hotel staff went out of their way to make special accommodations for our car. In addition, the location of the hotel was perfect. And the rooms were excellent. 5 stars all around

My husband, 10 year old daughter and I had an outstanding stay at the Ambassade Hotel on New Year's Eve which greatly exceeded our expectations. We booked a room for 3 people and were given a lovely 2 floor suite overlooking a beautiful canal. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was amazing; there were also complimentary water bottles,...

This hotel is sited on a beautiful canal and couldn’t be better placed for exploring Amsterdam. We spent four nights here just before New Year… Our room was quiet, comfortable, well appointed and pretty; breakfasts in the Brasserie were fabulous; and the staff were tirelessly helpful. There’s a very good restaurant at the Ambassade itself, and many others nearby. We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Over the years, the Ambassade Hotel has expanded considerably. Starting with just one canal-side building in 1953, it now has 57 hotel rooms distributed among 10 of these buildings. Eight of these canal-side homes are on the "Herengracht" canal, while two others are located on the "Singel" canal. Other buildings are in use by the Ambassade Hotel too, but for other purposes: a few houses further along the Herengracht is the hotel's Float & Massage Centre known as Koan Float and 150 meters further along the Singel canal you will find the hotel's conference room. Except for the building at 335 Herengracht, all the canal-side buildings are physically interconnected. So as not to unnecessarily damage the original character of these canal-side homes, small sets of stairs and landings can be found at various places in the halls and in some of the rooms themselves to bridge the differences in floor elevations between the buildings. Over the years, two lifts have been installed, making all rooms easily accessible. The Ambassade Hotel has a bar and restaurant/brasserie called 'Brasserie Ambassade' that specialises in the classical French kitchen. The canal houses have been carefully restored to maintain their authentic character and all rooms and suites have been stylishly furnished and decorated. The furnishings are predominantly Louis XV/XVI style with the use of colourful fabrics and in all rooms and public areas you will find original paintings by artists from the famous CoBrA movement. ... more   less
