My first night in this hotel was not that great, as I was given a small bedroom here the internet was lousy and the lighting in the bathroom did not work. When I complained about this the following day, they gave me a junior suite, much bigger, with air conditioner which came in handy as it was a hot day....

Staff at this hotel were amazing! Couldn't fault them! Stayed 3 nights and had the rooms cleaned everyday! Rooms are quite small, but fine for what we needed as we spent all our time exploring! If we stayed more than 3 nights personally I would of wanted more space so bare that in mind! Overall brilliant stay!

The location for this hotel is it's second best selling point. We were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted and for the things a little far away - the tram picked us up less than 500 feet from the front door. The first was the front desk staff we worked with during check-in; they were very good about answering...

We stayed in this hotel for 7 nights, location is very convenient, the tram stops slightly in front of the hotel. Felt safe as the Police Station is next door. Breakfast is very good , the staffs are very helpful. Next time we visit the Netherlands again we definitely will stay there.

Location was convenient, close but still far enough from the main railway station, red light district and Dam square. All the staff were very friendly and helped us in any questions we had, like restaurant recommendations, table reservations or tram instructions. Breakfast was good, with fresh veggies and fruit, pastries and buns, cold cuts, beans, bacon and eggs, tea and...

We stayed 3 nights in a small but nice room at the 4th floor. Breakfast is good and staff are friendly and quick. The location of this hotel is excellent. Its a five minute walk from the central train station which in turn is 15 minutes from the airport so communications are superb. The rest of central Amsterdam with its...

I realize it's high season in Amsterdam with the tulips being in bloom. However the price that I paid for basically a cupboard was ridiculous. I was highly disappointed in my room although I was able to check in early. If I could share video here, I could show you how small the room was. Honestly, it was a joke....

I arrived at around 11pm and was only staying one night, so this was only ever a pop in / out, I was initially impressed with the hotel. It's a short walk from Centraal Station and the Damrak, so perfectly positioned. I chose the hotel via Egencia - my company's online booking system, so not the price that you'd normally...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A number of historic buildings make up the Avenue Hotel. Part of these premises even dates back to the 17th century. An interesting fact about the building: during the Golden Age it was used as a warehouse by the 'V.O.C.' (United East India Company). Since that time the building has had many different owners and served different purposes. It has now turned into a hotel, that is up to contemporary standards. The rooms are divided over the different parts of the hotel so they all have a unique style and shape. You can reach all floors by elevator. Our 3 star-hotel has 82 comfortable rooms. Furthermore we offer free WIFI-connection and continental breakfast. All our rooms come with a flatscreen-tv, private bathroom with shower and/or bath, airconditioning and a desk. Discover numerous sights in the vicinity of the Avenue Hotel: Dam Square, the Red Light District, The Nine Streets, the canals and several shopping streets can be reached by foot. The hotel staff will gladly answer your questions about the public transport system, museums and excursions. The best way to explore Amsterdam is by bike, we also offer you the posibility to rent a bike. In the video below you will see why this is te best way to explore Amsterdam ... more   less
