2nd time here. Cheap and cheerful. Room, again, was more than adequate and clean. Great location for pretty much everything you'd want. If you are a bit demanding, pay more you cheapskate! If you want well priced conveniently located basic accommodation, this will fit the bill!

I booked the Tulip Inn for Valentine's Day and for my boyfriends Birthday - we wanted to stay somewhere pretty central and cheap. When we arrived at the hotel on Monday the member of staff who checked us in was very friendly. We checked into our room which was the first floor, next to the lift. The room was very...

From start to finish this was an unpleasant hotel. The staff were clearly in a bad mood on arrival. We booked about 6 months in advance and ourselves and our freinds where put in room 126 and 127 which were situated in a pocket of the hotel in 2 tiny rooms that looked liked they were storage closets added onto...

Very friendly, helpful staff. Room (109) was a good size and everything clean and tidy. Just a five minute walk from the Grand Centraal Station and all major city attractions were within walking distance - the furtherest away being Van Gogh at around half an hours walk. Would stay here again.

Stayed here with a friend for a weekend away, I guess it was okay considering it was our first time in Amsterdam so we didn't spend any time in the room other than to sleep as we were exploring the city. But I would not recommend it for the price it cost us. For two nights we paid almost €500...

Tulip Inn is conveniently located a street across from Leiden Central Station, which makes it a good choice for business travellers to Leiden and also tourists who wanted cheaper accommodation away from Amsterdam. The hotel is just 15 minutes away from Schiphol Airport by train, and going to Amsterdam Central Station would just take around 40 minutes. Staffs were friendly,...

What a lousy place! It situation in the city center is its only advantage. This is an old, dirty labyrinth. I booked a 1 pers room for over 200€/night. 1,5 by 4 meters, looked more like an old prison cell. Do yourself a favor and find a better hotel!

Stayed here for 3 nights. Location was great, central to everything including central station which was perfect for getting to and from the airport. Hotel is basic, however was clean and tidy and staff were friendly and helpful. Fresh towels were placed in room each day however, not once was our bed changed or even spread up. Not the best...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
