Location good, but old and congested building. Its not a good pick if you seek luxury. They just have basic room, cozzy space and there is ahrdly any other facility in hotel except room and breakfast. but location is a plus point, its in the centre so you can visit all nearby places while walking. But crowd walking on streets...

The room was so-so. Was so tiny and the whole building is old fashioned. The lift did not work BUT the hotel was very clean and most amazingly, the location was fantastic. Right at the centre of Amsterdam; we came to this hotel 3x in one day just to use the bathroom because it was so convenient. For that reason,...

Good hotel. Top located, right in the middle of the city center, 5minutes from Centraal Station. The rooms are quite big for Amsterdam, clean and the bed is very comfortable. Bathroom is ok, but there was no electric spot, that's a problem (to shave for example).

We stayed one night here and after reading the reviews before we left, we were not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. Check in was smooth and we left our bags in the secure luggage room before returning later on. The room was a bit dated and rough round the edges, but clean, the bathroom looked very new....

Stayed two nights for my husband's 30th birthday. Location is perfect, right near most of the coffee shops, dam square, shopping, etc. We got in early and our room wasn't ready but they allowed us to leave our suitcases in a storage room at our own risk. Room was dated but clean and the bed was actually very comfy. If...

Hotel was basic but clean, bathroom was modern with shower, however I think the rooms are all different as our friends said their bathroom was dated . staff were friendly. Free safe in room, toiletries & hair drier provided in bathroom. We was on 3rd floor, view was a brick wall but who goes to Amsterdam to look at the...

Stayed here during a semi-business, semi-leisure trip with some colleagues last July 2016 and all I can say is that the hotel has great location, very near Amsterdam Central Station and right smack in the middle of the Red Light District and shopping areas. If you want to get a much quieter room, request from the receptionist to put you...

This hotel is in a fantastic location. In the centre of everything. All the sights are in walking distance. The room was adequate for our stay and cleaned daily. I would recommend asking for a room away from the main road as it is extremely noisy.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
