A unique hotel situated in the very heart of Amsterdam. Old authentic building, gorgeous foyer /lots to look at/, friendly staff. Cosy and clean rooms. And all this at a very nice price! Unbelievable!

I booked this hotel room on a major Website, Booking.com and at a non refundable rate. I had to make the payment right after the booking on a secure website which is good but I did not know what was in stock for us. We checked in smoothly at 4pm , headed to the room and left our suitcases to...

I stopped here for 2 nights with my teenage son . The room was small and unusual in shape. However the beds were comfy. Staff were very helpful and friendly. It's ideally located in the centre only 10 mins walk from most attactions. Was a bit noisy at night due to location but not so bad you couldn't sleep. Not...

This was our latest visit to Amsterdam and as there were loads of us we decided to get a few shared rooms. The location of this hotel is great with everything very close. The rooms were very basic and in need of a clean and redecorating. We had taken four rooms and all were the same. Very noisy in the...

2nd time here. Cheap and cheerful. Room, again, was more than adequate and clean. Great location for pretty much everything you'd want. If you are a bit demanding, pay more you cheapskate! If you want well priced conveniently located basic accommodation, this will fit the bill!

I booked the Tulip Inn for Valentine's Day and for my boyfriends Birthday - we wanted to stay somewhere pretty central and cheap. When we arrived at the hotel on Monday the member of staff who checked us in was very friendly. We checked into our room which was the first floor, next to the lift. The room was very...

From start to finish this was an unpleasant hotel. The staff were clearly in a bad mood on arrival. We booked about 6 months in advance and ourselves and our freinds where put in room 126 and 127 which were situated in a pocket of the hotel in 2 tiny rooms that looked liked they were storage closets added onto...

Very friendly, helpful staff. Room (109) was a good size and everything clean and tidy. Just a five minute walk from the Grand Centraal Station and all major city attractions were within walking distance - the furtherest away being Van Gogh at around half an hours walk. Would stay here again.

Stayed here with a friend for a weekend away, I guess it was okay considering it was our first time in Amsterdam so we didn't spend any time in the room other than to sleep as we were exploring the city. But I would not recommend it for the price it cost us. For two nights we paid almost €500...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
