We had a spacious room for a family of 4. Good: Walking distance from Centraal Station, Very near to attractions such as Dam Square, Red Light District. Not so good: Being a family of 4, we have some luggages. Getting to the room takes up up a few flights of stairs, down some, up again, and down again before we...

Amsterdam will always remain Amsterdam with its tourists , nice cosy city with its red light district , its cheese and its bad smell (around the red light district) of course. The hotel was OK , I would have expected something better for a 4 star hotel.

This hotel is bad. Moisture in the bathroom, dust everywhere. No wifi, internet on cable is optional : really horrible in 2014. Noise in the room from outside is annoying. Service is horrible too. I'm never going to this hotel

We stayed here mainly due to it being in a great location and quite cheap. Staff were quite friendly and let us check in early. It took us a while to find the room in the labyrinth of corridors and staircases but we got there in the end. The room was a bit on the small side and one side...

If your looking for a luxurious hotel in Amsterdam this isn't it, but for a group weekend away its great. Excellent location and only a short walk to the centre, nothing really special about the place and we were hardly in the rooms apart from when sleeping. Really basic rooms but had everything you needed. Beds weren't the most comfortable...

I stayed here recently for 2 nights (Thurs & Fri) for 50 EUR per night. The hotel is in a great location, 5 mins walk from Central Station. The room I stayed in (#305) was in need of refreshment but still good value for money. It was clean with comfortable bedding and lots of hot water for the shower and...

Stayed here for 3 nights with a group of friends, 10 minute walk from central station and centrally located to nightlife, location is key with this hotel, room had 4 beds and was very average but ok for a short break with friends, I wouldn't recommend to couples or families.

They didn't clean the room after each day like a normal hotel. They didn't even leave new towels or shampoo. We had to go to the lobby to ask for them. Then they ended up only leaving a plastic bag of towels and shampoo on our bed after we asked.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
