This is just an outstanding hotel in an excellent location. Be forewarned it is somewhat expensive but you get what you pay for. It was Easter weekend and they had live chicks in the lobby which was a nice touch. The service in Freddy's was unusually slow but maybe it was an off night. Great hotel. Bell guys are awesome.

Stayed here on the first stop of a tour of the Low Countries. Great hotel albeit pricey. Nice spa, bar and restaurant. Suite on the top floor was excellent and roomy. Nice views and centrally located.

What a wonderful hotel. Couldn't fault our stay at all. Even though everything is to such a high standard and so classy it is so comfortable and welcoming. The staff really do make this hotel what it is. Loved sitting in the lobby in the evening and having a swim in the pool in the morning.

We had an impromptu overnight stay in Amsterdam as our flight was delayed. We opted to stay at De L'Europe as is looked so attractive. We were upgraded on arrival and a bottle of wine was waiting for us in the beautiful room. It was very quiet and we were the only people in the restaurant. Very relaxing eating with...

Excellent staff. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Could not do enough for you. Hotel breakfast delicious and everything they did was done with class and elegance. We were in room 210 which was a junior suite. Beautifully appointed. Comfortable beds and every amenity you could think of bath robes, towels, cosmetics. Turn down service and water left by the side of...

Service service service. Nothing was too much to ask for. And they went above and beyond in multiple situations. Iris and Aif were especially amazing at the concierge desk. Highly recommend this hotel!

Very good central location, 12 mins brisk walk to Dam Square and just over 15 mins from central station. Breakfast buffet was included and was pretty hearty with a good selection of cold meats, cheeses and fruit. Slightly uncomfortable with slightly obsequious doormen and perpetual welcoming every time we came back to hotel. All staff speak near perfect English. On...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
