Stayed for two night in November 2016. Single en suite room that was fortunately on the first floor. Room was tiny but did the job; poorly lit although en suite was well lit. The steep stairs are typical of this style and age of house and are found elsewhere in similar style/price hotels. Breakfast had a wide choice and plentiful...

We stayed for 4 nights at Hotel Washington, I found that it was a lovely hotel, room it was clean and the breakfast we paid for was a wonderful selection of fruit, bread, meats, cereals. When we first arrived at the Hotel we were greeted by a lovely lady who recommended places to eat which we found useful. The first...

This hotel was booked for a large group for a stag. A variety of rooms were booked depending on what was available at the time. It's a decent location, near plenty of restaurants and shops and very close to a tram stop that provides easy access to the central areas of Amsterdam. It's also easy to get to from the...

First of all, they let you know upon arrival, that they charge 4% for using a credit card. Note: 4% of the entire price - an outrage, never seen (by me) elsewhere. Like what's you gonna do - walk away and look for another room? This is an outrage. Now when they've added those 4%, I ended up paying almost...

We were a group of 8 people staying in Amsterdam for 3 nights. I wasn't the one who booked the hotel, but my friend. It had barely the necessities with a price not that low comparing to what was offered. No wifi, nor breakfast included. Wifi was for a charge of around 3 euros per night, we're in 2016 for...

Location was fine, easy enough to find, just round the corner from tram stop. On first arriving we were a bit shocked, the reception was just a desk in the corner of the dining room with luggage being stored all around it, and looked very dingy. Receptionist was pleasant, offered us a ground level room as I was on crutches....

Great hotel! The breakfast was very good! And the most important the bed was so comfort you didn't want to wake up. The location is good 5 minutes from bus stop, some top museums and near to vondel park. Everything was great!

We stayed at Hotel Washington last week as a family of 5. Our room was on the ground floor so we luckily avoided the stair issue. The room itself was huge and excellent value for money! The bathroom & bedroom were both spotless and the beds were remade every day. The receptionist was very friendly & helpful, he made us...

I failed to spot when booking that this hotel has no lift, however their receptionist was wonderful and moved me to a ground floor room due to my disabilities without delay. The bed was made every day which was a bonus I didn't expect. There's plenty of hot water at all times of day. The Wifi is surprisingly good, although...

We went there without a reservation as there was some misunderstanding with our initial accommodation and we had no other place to stay. Alex, the receptionist was really helpful. He managed to find a room for us within seconds and even helped carry our luggage up 3 flights of steep stairs. However, there was no one available on the day...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
