It's a 5-10 minute walk from Centraal Station and just around the corner from where all the action is in the red light district. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and will give you advice on anything you need to know. Breakfast was lovely too. We had a view of the canal, though whilst noisy late at night, this is...

Upon arrivale to hotel the deckhand was very rude from the start! I had booked a twin room but was told there was only a double room (not happy)! As I asked to cancel the stay the man became very aggressive and said we would be charged in full to my card for the weekends stay. I wou D definately...

I am not one to come on here and moan but I do use this site a lot to check out places to stay. I stayed here for 3 nights on a hen party and the location for what we wanted was ideal (in the heart of the night life... and the red light area). At first sight the rooms...

Stayed here on my first trip to Amsterdam, asked for a canal view on reccomondation of a post on another website. Basic rooms, but friendly staff, very clean and lovely breakfast buffet. (No fry up, but good selection of breads, cold meats, cheeses, jams, boiled eggs & cereals. With plenty of tea, coffee and orange juice to wash it down....

Not far away from the train station, in the heart of the red district and in walking distance to, well everything! The rooms are not that great but they are ok and they are clean and that's what really matters. Who comes to Amsterdam to stay in the hotel anyways. And if you're tired of walking and want to chill...

We had a brief but great stay in Amsterdam. The hotel was very accommodating, although the room we had requested was not ready when we first showed up (check-in was at noon and we got there 5 minutes past noon). They said we could either wait an hour for the room to be ready or take another room, one level...

Only a few hundred metres from the train station this hotel is exactly what we wanted: affordable (for amsterdam), convenient, friendly, clean enough hotel. We were upgraded immediately to a bigger room right on the lower floor so few stairs and our room was quiet. It wasn't perfectly clean, but the beds and bathroom were fine. We traveled with our...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
