Getting to Rho Hotel from Schipol Airport is easy. It cost only 4 Euro and about 15 minutes ride up to Central Station. What we did was we left our luggage at the airport locker and just pack a little for our short stay in Amsterdam, From Central Station Exit, Cross the road and to your right which is Damrak...

First holiday to Holland / Netherlands April 2013) and enjoyed the whole week of our stay. The hotel was centrally located - just a couple of strides from the buzzing Dam Square. The hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was bright, airy (but nice and warm when required) and had a good comfortable...

Stayed in the 4 bed suite. We found the staff were friendly and helpful. However although the room was a decent size and comfortable, the shower and seperate toilet left a lot to be desired. Also the kitchen had a few plates, coffee cups, cutlery and a kettle, but no coffee or milk sachets to use them, something I would...

This hotel is basically on Dam Square and only a short walk to attractions and the red light district. Found the service staff to be most helpful and polite. Directed us to a good small restaurant 1 block down the street to left for lunch and the food was special and reasonable. This is a busy area but no complaints...

My husband and I have just come back from a weekend in Amsterday for his 50th Birthday. We stayed at the Rho Hotel which is in the perfect location to everything!! The room was on the 4th floor and we had no issues with it whatsoever. The hotel is old and there is nothing modern about it but it was...

My boyfriend and I stayed here on a weekend break in Amsterdam - I was so glad I chose this hotel. It's within walking distance of pretty much anything you'd want to see - shops, restaurants, museums, The Anne Frank House, Centraal Station, the red light district - you name it! It's right in the centre of the city, but...

I stayed at the Rho hotel with my sister for 3 nights in April and it was nice and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helped us out with directions and places to see while always smiling. It is a bit pricey but I guess that applies to most places in Amsterdam and I wish the cable would have a...

arrived here with a group of 30 people. 7 of the twin rooms were unsuitable. My own room was so small I couldn't open my case on the floor. I asked for the same room I had been given for the last 2 years on this trip to be told I expect too much of a room I am only...

This was a girls trip to Amsterdam and the hotel is in a fantastic location, being 5-10 minute walk from central station and being on the edge of Dam Square convenient for everything. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was a really good size, complete with a safe and a fridge. The bathroom had a walk in...

I stayed in this hotel for a business trip of 2 days. Well, as described in the website, but the hotel was an old theatre and the hall clearly shows what it was in the past. My room at the top level was really but really small, with just small room around the bed and nothing else. On the other...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
