We were a group of 6 ladies, staying for the night for my surprise birthday treat ! so my friends booked it for me- great location and the breakfast was good, lots of choice- the rooms are a little shabby but nothing major just needs a little updating, sheets clean as was the bathroom which had liquid soap supplied, they...

The location of the hotel is good in comparison to the train station and the local attractions. We traveled in two couples and our room was across the street but part of the hotel. The room was very big and would be ample size for a longer stay than we did of one night. The room was somewhat dated but...

Stayed from Friday 9th 'til Monday 12th May at Amsterdam with 3 other people for my sister's 21st. I mainly picked this hotel because of it's closeness to Centraal Station. We all arrived there about 11pm but the hotel has a 24 hour desk which is perfect. There were some trouble checking in, but it was due to the third...

Situated right across from the train station and the docks for all the canal boat lines; there are a dozen excellent pubs located within a few blocks. The desk staff were always helpful and cheerful. The room and bathroom were very spacious by European standards. Excellent water pressure at all times. Breakfast was good. Off the lobby is a cozy...

This was my seventh visit to Amsterdam in twenty years, & Prins Hendrik was definitely my favourite hotel. I stayed here with twelve friends on a stag party for three nights, all our rooms were very clean & spacious. Staff were friendly & very helpful. Breakfast was very nice too.

First something very important. I would suggest if you are carrying any quantity of luggage beyond a small handbag that you ask to see your room before parting with your cash. Mrs Jeff and I and our two friends were allocated rooms in two different buildings. Our friends were in an annexe adjacent to the main hotel; we were allocated...

Went here with a group of friends and the hotel was exactly what we needed. Location could not have been any better, directly across for Amsterdam central station. The rooms where spacious and they had a continental breakfast which was sufficient and set you up for a day of sightseeing. I would stay here again if I was returning on a...

Helpful staff. Great location. Excellent breakfast. Nice rooms. Spacious rooms. Super clean. Good value for money. Safe. Secure. Fun. Receptionists were always there. Waiters knew what they were doing. Theaids cleaned our room very well. Interior (lift,stairs,corridors,lobby,breakf-ast room and lunch/dinner room) were all super clean to. Could not be better. Would certainly go there again.

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
