Hotel Aalders is has been in the same family for generations...I know, because I have been staying there through at least three of them....This is a place where you will always receive a smile from the staff, a fine room, and a great breakfast before you head out to visit the museums, which are just footsteps away! I always call... More

We had a short last minute trip to Amsterdam. This quaint old style hotel was literally across the road and a 2 minute walk from the bus/tram stop. We stated in room25A, small but adequate room overlooking a back garden, slept like a baby. The staff were so friendly, chatty and helpful. Breakfast consisted of juices, cereals, lots of bread/pastries,... More

I stayed here for several days while visiting Amsterdam for both business and pleasure. The room I got on an upper floor was spacious (although the bathroom was cramped), with a pleasant balcony overlooking the garden in the back of the hotel. Like many Amsterdam properties, there was a steep and twisting staircase up from the ground floor (plus an... More

Good hotel, good breakfast, good location, good price. Our room was very small, with no place for storing/putting our stuff. I Assume Aalders is good value for the money in Amsterdam. Very close to the tram/busstop where you also can take the express airportbus :)

We booked this hotel based on the excellent reviews on this site, and were not disappointed. The hotel is old (as is everything in the heart of Amsterdam) but modern, clean and charming. The staff is uniformly excellent (all family members, perhaps?), friendly and helpful. The included breakfast is great, lots of typical northern European items like cheese and meat,... More

This family-owned small hotel is perfectly situated in the Museum District, literally around the corner from the Van Gogh and down the street from the Rijksmuseum. Public transport is practically on the doorstep. Cafes are steps away. The staff - to a person - couldn't be better. We had questions about getting around and asked for recos on some things.... This hotel was very nice. It was somewhat dated, but the location was EXCELLENT and the staff was very kind and friendly. The rooms were clean and larger than many of our rooms throughout Europe. The price was very reasonable We would definitely stay here again

Nice little hotel, my room was small but beautiful, my husband and I had to organize our luggage since we had two suitcases and there was place only for one. Air conditioning, TV , free wifi. Clean room beautiful decor, nice typical bathroom , showers never are closed completely , so you have to be careful not to get all... More

I am writing this review considering that this is a 3 star hotel, keeping that in mind I was very satisfied with Hotel Aalders. This is a small Hotel located in what seemed to be a pair of residential house(s) in the past. There is some construction/pavement on the street this Hotel is located, so this may be an inconvinience... More

Stayed for four nights. On the plus side - as everyone says - great location in the museum quarter. It's a five minute walk to the edge of the city centre, with bars and shops aplenty. The trams stop at the end of the road, so you can get to Dam Square in about 15-20 minutes if you don't want... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
