Great location with two of the three must-see-museums in the back yard. Quiet street. Friendly staff, and a really clean and nice room. Breakfast was good, and sorrounding restaurants in the neighbourhood were just, what we wanted, The receptionist kindly gave us names and locations upon our arrival. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a comfortable 3 night stay in this very friendly hotel close to the Van Gogh and Rijks Museums. We were fortunate with the weather and were able to walk to most of the attractions. For those a little further away we were able to use the excellent river boat or bus services which were within easy reach. The...

The hotel is in a former traditional Dutch residence. The breakfast room is especially charming, plus the buffet breakfast is excellent. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. They secured discounted canal cruise tickets for us the morning we wanted to go. The hotel is less than two blocks from the bus and tram lines. It is also located near...

The hotel offers the amenities of a large, impersonal one, in a small traditional style setting on a quiet street. It is within minutes walking distance from the museums and public transit, tram line 5.

I stayed at Aalders for 2 nights and was pleased to find a combination of old-style hotel, with modern conveniences, and a friendly atmosphere. It is worth knowing that my room at the front was very quiet, in a quiet street, despite the central location, There is a lift available, and constant presence at the check-in desk all night. My...

We are in Amsterdam ok, it is not economy city but according to my opinion too expensive for the service offered. This Hotel is nice too se outside but in side it's another story. Old furniture and low-quality, small and poor bathroom, poor breakfast.

This hotel is in a perfect location for exploring Amsterdam. The bus to the airport stops at the end of the block and is only 5 euros. The hotel is down a quiet side street. It is spotlessly clean and all the staff are friendly and helpful. We were put in a family room, even though we had booked a...

We were a couple on our first trip to Amsterdam. We wanted a hotel that was in walking distance to all the hot spots (IAMsterdam sign - 30second walk, Van Gogh Museum - around the corner, Heineken museum - 15minute walk, etc...) but also would be away from the noisy night life. The hotel is very clean and tidy and...

We were a party of four singles exploring Amsterdam and and war museums near the Arnhem bridge. This hotel is ideally situated for access to the museum area and quite close to Amsterdam city centre. We walked there most days. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is very nice from the buffet. They have a small bar that we...

Hotel is conveniently situated a few minutes' walk from the Rijksmuseum and van Gogh museum. Trams into the city centre together with the express bus to the airport stop at the end of the road. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was nice and filling. Hotel will organise tours, rent bikes,...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
