A booking which was confirmed long in advance was cancelled a couple of days before our arrival with an insulting offer to book us into a cheap airport hotel miles away from the centre. The hotel staff was rude and unapologetic . A promised token compensation has not arrived to this day.

This is a terrible hotel with no customer service at all. When we arrived (26/10) at the hotel, we were told the hotel was overbooked. They had booked us to a hotel "nearby" - it was near the vondel park - 50 min walk from the train station (Park Plaza)! We did not want to go, but they said it...

This hotel does overbooking : you reserve, they confirm and when you get there they say : "sorry, no room for you" and they send you to another hotel in a completely different district! This happened to us on november 1, 2013. IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN SO AVOID THIS HOTEL

We were very disappointed with ‘Chic and Basic’ as we were told on arrival that the hotel is overbooked, although we already booked and paid in advance. They transferred us to a hotel that was very far from where we wanted to be (about 20min from Central Station by car). They paid a taxi to take us there, but it...

Good location. Basic hotel. Only problem we had was a terrible smell came from bathroom drains. Not pleasant. But other than that nice and stylish place near everything and 10 minute walk from central station.

After arriving Centraal Station we thought it would be easy enough to find.....wrong!! Abit of trouble finding the hotel and all made worse by luggage but with the help from friendly passer by's they were able to point us in the right direction. The reception are is very pretty with cool lighting. On the way to the room we were...

Guess what? It is all about location which could not be better..on the side of a canal mid way between the seedier side of Amsterdam and the beauty of the canal system. Fantastic location. Sure the rooms are a bit small but frankly you are not paying for the rooms...you will be asleep! Hotel is fabulous from the outside and...

Cute room, of course always tight and tricky to navigate your way to the room with squishy and steep stairwells. Not recommended for those without strong knees and a heavy travel pack! Otherwise, great location on the cusp of a canal and a short stumble to the main strip of Amsterdam. Recommended.

This hotel is extremely aptly named. The historic exterior of what were originally four buildings has been transformed internally into a vision of modernity. Whether that is to everyone's taste is a matter of personal preference. Personally, I would have preferred a chair or sofa. Instead we had to make do with a leather covered stool. But then being on...

The hotel located in the old Amsterdam in the immediate vicinity of the canal. This was perhaps the only advantage. Our room was located on the 3rd floor. We had to carry our heavy suitcases up the narrow stairs with no elevator. But the main "joke" was waiting for us in the room. There were no windows in the conventional...
