Arriving at Bob's Hostel I quickly learned of Amsterdam productivity when it took over an hour to check-in due to slow moving staff members with a genuine disinterest in serving the Hostel guests. After the first night I woke up with bites all over my body and it quickly became evident that the bed I was sleeping on had bed... More

I came here back in Oct 2012 as one of my 21st celebrations with a friend. After doing my research and going with my gut I picked this one and reserved it for 3 nights. Of course we were on a budget so a hotel was out of the question but when we arrived I was surprised! The location first... More

It is a hostel at the end of the day but the toilets were rank, shower could e cleaned/re done. Beds were bunk beds. Just felt dirty in the room however when you're drunk/high it wasn't so mcuha problem, just more the next day when you woke up. If you're on a budget of £20 a night this will provide... More

I stayed in this hostel in april for just one night and i stayed in a dormitory. I have to say that it was difficoult to find accommodation in Amsterdam that time. But this hostel is awful. So ugly... dirty. Staff so relaxed that doesnt care about anything. Everybody smoking... and dodgy people around.

Me and 2 mates stayed here in November and as soon as we got there the receptionist was extremely grumpy! Couldn't get a smile out of him! The rooms weren't clean and the stairs were horrible walking up! The breakfast was very basic, and there weren't enough seats/tables to eat at, it was an egg and two slices of bread...mmm.... More

Cheap, Good Location, Not Nice but it's a Hostel. They give plain eggs with plain toast for breakfast. Location is good. Unfriendly staff. Whatever. Sort of a shady system for storing your bags so be careful (nothing was stolen from me). Hang out in the common area and make international friends!

Rooms are really dirty. Beds are too dirty to sleep. Bed linens were simply "yellow". There is no soup in the toilets. Simply, disgusting! The worst situation was not about "cleanless" The worker came up after midnight to our room to annoy us in very unusual way! He wants to show "the special paper" for staying that hostel to him.... So this was my first trip to the beautiful city of Amsterdam and we decided to stay in Bob's Youth Hostel as it was mentioned on various websites. Upon arrival to Amsterdam we asked an experienced traveler for directions, his first words: "You don't mean seedy Bob's do you?". Turns out the place we were staying really was "Seedy Bob's".... Its an appealing atmosphere what with the purple haze and classic rock in the main social area. The rooms however (we stayed in girls room) were painted a not so appealing shade of pink.. and the cleaniness of it was much to be desired. hair and make up.. among other things. EVERYWHERE. we found a dirty tissue on our pillow!!... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away.
