When we walked into Bob's we were greeted by a long dimly lit basement lounge littered with stoners, grafitti and marijuana smoke. Heavy psychedelic music was blasting as we met the dreadlocked member of staff behind the counter. After making our payment, we made our way up the long twisted stairs about five levels, when we eventually got to our...

Well before heading off to Amsterdam I read the reviews of Bob's and was a bit worried, eventhough there was 6 of us. However it worked out perfectly. I would describe the setting as urban, however I can see why some of the reviews described the grafitii everywhere as something like a crack house but I though it suited the...

The bed rooms were clean and the bathrooms. The communal area was a bit dirty and you can smoke there but it was a good atmosphere and they had a useful luggage room you can use even after you check out.

I don't really understand all these low ratings. When you book a hostel what do you expect? Anyway, the hostel's room was same as a hotel's room, yet it was a bit dirty. The 'reception' is a cool place where you can enjoy the reason you are going to Amsterdam, with great music, munchies vending machines, and great atmosphere. Also,...

Arriving at Bob's Hostel I quickly learned of Amsterdam productivity when it took over an hour to check-in due to slow moving staff members with a genuine disinterest in serving the Hostel guests. After the first night I woke up with bites all over my body and it quickly became evident that the bed I was sleeping on had bed...

I came here back in Oct 2012 as one of my 21st celebrations with a friend. After doing my research and going with my gut I picked this one and reserved it for 3 nights. Of course we were on a budget so a hotel was out of the question but when we arrived I was surprised! The location first...

It is a hostel at the end of the day but the toilets were rank, shower could e cleaned/re done. Beds were bunk beds. Just felt dirty in the room however when you're drunk/high it wasn't so mcuha problem, just more the next day when you woke up. If you're on a budget of £20 a night this will provide...

I stayed in this hostel in april for just one night and i stayed in a dormitory. I have to say that it was difficoult to find accommodation in Amsterdam that time. But this hostel is awful. So ugly... dirty. Staff so relaxed that doesnt care about anything. Everybody smoking... and dodgy people around.

Me and 2 mates stayed here in November and as soon as we got there the receptionist was extremely grumpy! Couldn't get a smile out of him! The rooms weren't clean and the stairs were horrible walking up! The breakfast was very basic, and there weren't enough seats/tables to eat at, it was an egg and two slices of bread...mmm....

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
