The hotel was perfectly located seconds away from the tram stop, plenty of bars and restaurants, shops, museums and of course the concert hall! The room was modern and quirky and the bathroom was very clean. It would have been ideal to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room and light switches in more convenient places. The steep stairs to...

Well placed for visiting museums. The staff were most helpful. However, in 50+ years of staying in hotels I have never slept in such a small cramped room. No chairs, just a small stool to sit on, no kettle or means of making a drink. Open shelves to put belonging on, accessed by climbing on the stool. Six hangers for...

Room small but perfect for our needs - street quiet and so close to museums which was focus for our visit. Staff very helpful and friendly, breakfast lovely, rooms spotless. Bathroom spotless too, but again very small but fine for us. Go for a larger room if you prefer more space. Nice bar in the foyer. As two women friends...

Absolutely wonderful, I stayed here for 2 nights with my husband. The staff were very welcoming and informative. Our room was one of the large rooms loved the decor and the quirky style to it... basketball net and soft ball. Towels changed daily, beds large and comfortable. Breakfast although continental was lovely and plentiful. Very clean and well presented. Served...

Good location, friendly staff. Breakfast (complimentary) has enough choice and makes a great start of the day! This hotel gives good value for money. If we travel to Amsterdam again, we will most likely stay here again!

This hotel has lots of character, very clean, interesting decor, and brilliant staff. The area is very quiet and attractive. Perfect for the three art museums. Lots of good quality restaurants nearby.

Initially on arrival, we were given a tiny double room and I had paid for one of the larger rooms. After liaising with the reception this was sorted out. Rooms are narrow which is fine but the bathroom was so, so small could barely sit on the loo and I am only 5' 6" (imagining a 6ft guy trying to...

Dear Miss May, Thank you for your time to write this feedback. We feel really sorry that your stay was not as it should be. Being located in four very typical Amsterdam townhouses, connected to each other, our rooms have different sizes and shapes. Our breakfast is a Dutch buffet, we feel has more choice like also fresh fruit, different...

Look, the location is excellent, only about 5 minutes from the Rijksmuseum. The service is really good, with friendly and helpful staff. So my review is not a criticism of the staff, but the building itself. 1. The standard double room is claustrophobic small. We looked at an upgrade to the largest room, an Executive Suite, but it was basically...

I wanted to give 5 points to this hotel because I literally felt in love with its design. When I entered the room and I turned on the light, I was so amazed, it looked like the room of a young kid. Dear Trickypv, Thanks for your kind words, it made me smile to see you had fun in your room. Although almost all our rooms can be reached by elevator, some indeed can not. These kind of stairs are actually very common in historical Amsterdam town houses, which the buildings of our hotel originally were and are also part of the...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
