I stayed at hotel international for 1 night on the 15th February. I thought the staff were friendly, the hotel clean, in a great location and good value for money. It was my 5th visit to Amsterdam and my 5th different hotel. I will be going to Amsterdam again and will look into hotel international again to stay.

Really an amazing value. The location is incredible; plenty of restaurants, bars and shops on the street or within 5 minutes walk (rarely had to take public transport). Rooms are clean and comfy. Facilities were clean and always stocked. We never had problems sharing the facilities with other guests. Staff were friendly and helpful. Stairs were pretty steep, but we...

The Internationaal Hotel is located close to Centraal Amsterdam (Station) and very close to Red Light District and many other places to eat/drink. Also, the staff was very nice and helpful. Actually, the recepction is a bar. So, if you get a little bit early you could leave your baggage and drink a beer. The room has a good size,...

I stayed here for one night and the 2 star hotel is about a 5 min walk from the central station. Located near the red light district it's a lively location and I can see why they leave you ear plugs. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. There is free wifi and you can leave your luggage which is...

we booked this hotel due to the location and the reasonable price for that location (few minutes walk from the train station, close to Dam square and the red light district) Having visited last year and staying about a 15min tram ride away we wanted something closer so we could spend more time seeing what Amsterdam has to offer, and...

Really friendly staff, very basic rooms but will do just to get your head down. The room was clean, especially the bed and shower which is most important to me. Could smoke out of the window which was useful. It didn't bother us but it was quite noisy at night as it's on the one of the main streets but...

I loved staying here! It's a quaint little pub that boasts a great location; coffee shops, bars, food - all very local. Our room was perfect. Just the right size and with everything we needed; wash basin, bed, mirror and ashtray! Ahaha. We propped the window open and had our first smoke of many. The beds are super comfy and...

Very cosy. Friendly staff from start to finish and a free beer when we left just to top thing's off. Our room was number 32 and im told this is the best room in the house (in the roof space and ensuite). We got an electric massage chair and jacuzzi bath for free. We could smoke in the room too....

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
