Would highly recommened this cafe to anybody wanting to experience Amsterdam fully. Great selection of different types of smoke and bongs are available to hire (for free!). Cockney guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful.

Really like this bar, it has some good DJ's at night, is chilled and friendly during the day and best of all you can smoke and drink here. It is used by locals too which is always a good sign. My only gripe would be why fence off the comfy bit at the back if there aren't a lot of...

Right, let's get the bad out of the way. One member of staff was so rude, he riled us all up. Upon getting there, he looked dis-interested. It was as if checking us in was a chore. Didn't like the check in process in general, having to get my passport and cash out the middle of the cafe. On the...

Me and my other half came here for our 3 year anneversarie last february, it was the best experience ever. We were made to feel at home, within walking distance of everything, we could smoke in the rooms (even though they dont smell of smoke), and if they still do it, they even give money off vouchers in the coffee...

This was our first trip to Amsterdam ,I mainly went by the reviews on lateroom.com ..I had wanted a room above the coffee shop but they were fully booked so I had to go for a studio apartment for 130 euros which id gathered it had said it was behind the coffee shop .When we checked in it was early...

Nice and close to the station and well located. It's no Hilton or Marriott but for the price then it's a bargain. The stairs are an issue if you have any form of mobility problems or suffer from vertigo! The staff are friendly and will do everything that they can do to help but bear in mind that some of...

A quirky little place to stay!!! I was travelling on my own and checking in at the bar was an interesting experience...but I certainly always felt safe at the greenhouse effect. I was staying on the top floor..and it was difficult trying to get luggage up three VERY steep stair cases...but I considered it a challenge. The room is in...

I stayed in the single room (with bathroom) called Saloon. Room facilities is basic but that's expected. Don't be deceived by the pictures. The room looks nothing like the pictures. There's no aircon or heater so I wouldn't recommend it for winter stays. I stayed in September and already I could feel the chills. Most annoying is the lack of soundproof...

I go to Amsterdam with a few lads every year; we are 40 plus so not a young stag do and there are only between three and four of us. We have stayed at a variety of places and this was amongst the best. At the time we went in September there was a conference on and I struggled to...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
