We stayed here as a group of 8 and had a relatively new room upstairs. (No graffiti on the walls thank god). As we had the whole room we felt safe and the pub wasn't bad. The food service however had quite a long wait.

Toilets down stairs need refurb it's disgusting. The reception wouldn't let me print one sheet of paper and I had to go to another hotel to print it off. They wasn't helpful. Goodly located however . I'd stay here again but it wouldn't be first choice

This place was flat out awful. We arrived early on the night bus and were aware that check in was not till 1, however the hostel neglected to state that they have no provision for bag drop off. We were told that they could leave the bags in the hallway and were not liable for any theft. We then had...

When I checked in at a different time from my group, the hotel clerk did not allow me to enter the hostel claiming that the room had already been taken, this despite me showing my ID which was used to book the room. Even after calling my friends down, he insisted that there was no more space in the room...

When we arrived, our private 5 person room resembled nothing but a four wall, cramped and windowless prison cell with an unbearable heat and no air...but if this wasn't bad enough, our group woke at 3.30am the first night to find bed bugs crawling around each one of us (which later we found out we had been bitten several times...

First of all, this is not a hotel but a hostel. In the reception, sometimes deserted, there are homeless and even drug dealers at night. We booked, paying over 400 euros per night, one bedroom with private ensuite bathroom 8: this room has never existed. They gave us a dormitory for 8 with shared bathroom, telling us in that bathroom...

Set in the heart of the tourist area. The Globe have friendly staff and a great bar. Cheaper drinks than most bars. It has a garden area next to the canal. (No protective fencing). 2 times happy hours Sunday to Thursday. Local coffee shop opposite the hotel to the left. Also right in the heart of the Red light district....

Under no circumstances would I recommend this place to any sort of travellers. Bed bugs visibly crawling around the beds. No windows in the room. Staff in the bar reacted to our room number with "oh that room". The place needs to be closed down

Nine of us recently stayed for 2 nights, we had a 6 person room and a 3 person room. Upon arrival, they allowed us to check in an hour early which was good, but there was confusion over the cost of the rooms as we had previously cancelled a room, and as the website we booked through took the deposit,...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
