This hotel was amazing. It had tons of charm, and the room was extremely clean. The staff were extremely friendly and most helpful with any questions; willing to go that extra mile for you. The location is quiet and within walking distance to the museums, and the bar downstairs was cozy and relaxing. We enjoyed a bottle of wine each...

Had an overnight before a cruise and chose The College Hotel to celebrate my sister getting tenure. What a treasure we found. Charming rooms. Lovely young staff is eager to please. Location is to die for. Cocktails on the patio and dinner in their smart restaurant were dreamy. Fine breakfast included. Would never stay any place else in Amsterdam. And...

This was one of our nicest quality time weekends. From beginning to the end the staff was very polite and attentive. Although they are nearly all students, you notice that they understand what hospitality is. The hotel is beautiful, long ago it used to be a school . Our room was spacious with very high ceilings, a design bathroom and...

This is a beautiful hotel in a great location in the museum district with a very charming staff, BUT we've never stayed in a hotel where so many things didn't work When we were shown into our very attractive room we were told that one of the two large windows wasn't working and couldn't open. This did not seem to...

Dear Patrick, Unless your experience I would like to thank you for the review. Unfortunately you have had a very bad situation with our hotel, due to the fact the airconditioning broke down. As "Murphy's Law" is still a live everything went wrong afterwords. I am very sorry for this all together and I wish we could get an other...

Lovely hotel, lovely room, but no power and no air con. I complained as soon as I got to the room, it was like walking into an oven, at first I was told that the air con was down in the hotel and that it was being fixed at the time. I then went to put my phone on charge,...

Loved most aspects of this place -- the location, the staff, the furnishings in the room, and especially the size of the bathroom (ours was a mere double room). Two tiny complaints: we would have liked to have been able to open the windows instead of relying exclusively on the air conditioning, and some hooks in the bathroom would have...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
