My family of four just got back from a stay at the Dumas and Considine Bed and Breakfast in Amsterdam. We could not have chosen a more comfortable, convenient and thoroughly delightful place to stay. The accomodations consist of the entire floor of a small house near the University. There is a large living room with kitchen, computer access, dining...

This was our first time in Amsterdam and we didn't want to stay in a large hotel. I contacted the B & B direct in December and with no fuss made the booking. Set in the Plantage neighbourhood and in the old Jewish Quarter it's ideally placed for most attractions but with the peace and quite that comes from being...

This B&B is really nice and welcoming. Our room was very spacious, everything extremely clean and fresh looking. We had access to the whole floor and I can say we really enjoyed our stay. How lovely to have fresh fruit for breakfast in the morning, strawberries, pineapple, grapes, melon along with croissants, toast, eggs if we wanted them, tea and...

This is a wonderful place to stay! It was like staying with family! My breakfast was brought to my room every morning! There were movies in the room and a full kitchen with a packed refridgerator to meet my needs! I was attended to with great care! I cannot say enough good things about the experience! It has a great...

We stayed for a long weekend in October and were very impressed. Kevin, our host was very helpful and available to us when we needed him, without being an overbearing presence. We were close enough to walk to all the major attractions and far enough away to avoid the neon commercial areas of Amsterdam that you probably want to avoid...

We had a wonderful stay in Amsterdam at this great Bed and Breakfast. The owner, Kevin, was most welcoming. He gave us great tips/advice and served a delicious breakfast. The suite was perfect for a family of 4 such as ours. We had plenty of space, the rooms were bright and cheery and the gratis use of the Internet was...

Kevin, the owner was very helpful with area knowledge and delicious breakfast. The restaurants are plentiful and within walking distance . A wonderful zoo was up the street. We arrived at the B&B after having already stayed 4 nights in a hotel in the center of town. What a difference! We had 2 rooms for the 4 of us with plenty of room to move around. The bathroom was modern and plenty of hot water at all times. The children's eyes lit up when they saw the computer...

I found this B&B through Trip Advisor and I was not disappointed. It was spacious and clean and a perfect retreat after a long days sightseeing. I would thoroughly recommend this accommodation. It was nice to sample some authentic Dutch accommodation rather than playing it safe and always going for a hotel chain that you know!! Our party consisted of...

We decided to chose a bed and breakfast in Amsterdam as some of the hotels were expensive and did not include breakfast. What a good decision we made!! The accomodation was excellent. We are a family with 2 teenagers (15 and 19). We had a suite which consisted of 2 rooms, 1 double bedroom and one twin room (including a...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
