Perfect location, ten minutes from the station and only a 20 minute ride to Amsterdam centre. Basic but comfy rooms. Evening food was nice and fairly priced. Breakfast was ok but could have had a bigger selection. Overall lovely place and would definitely recommend it.

This restaurant/hotel is centrally located overlooking the old town square. The food was simple, chips out of the freezer type place, but okay if you are just hungry. The staff were friendly, Prices were average. 3 course menu was 20 euros.

I stayed here six nights in late September. I reserved a room and had to settle for a double although I was traveling solo. No big deal though, I just wanted a room for the whole stay and didn't want to play musical chairs as far as a hotel went. I asked for a room in the rear of the...

Stayed here recently. Quite cheap. Location excellent as is transport links. Breakfast was also decent. Staff were friendly too. The room was small and very basic. Small TV, comfortable bed. Shower wasn't the best I've used and bathroom was a bit dated. Pleasant stay for a couple of days and probably would stay again. The stairs amused me as they...

Stayed here for 5 nights whilst cycling in the area. Hotel is in a great position in Grote market. Very busy area. Our room was on the 2nd floor up two very steep sets of stairs. Luckily we were fit enough to carry our luggage up there. Room was basic but bed was comfy and shower room was clean. Towels...

Rick Steves says the interior downstairs of this hotel is a bit tired. I disagree (or they have been recently renovated). We stayed 2 nights in this hotel and found our room newly renovated, super clean (and very white). The downstairs looked great too. Free wifi throughout the hotel. The reception-waitress allowed us to leave our luggage since we arrived...

We booked a double room and got 2 very narrow single beds pushed together. Paid 95 euros for a room that was very small and spartan, one bedside cabinet, no tea/coffee making facilities, tiny room, tiny wardrobe without a handle. Ensuite bathroom that along with bedroom wasn't too clean. Bedroom wasn't cleaned or made up in the 4days we were...

Central, ideally located. Old building, hallways smelled terribly (smelled like a leakage of sorts). Room wasn't clean, even glasses and drinks from earlier visitors were still there. Also, it's an old building and so non-horizontal (for lack of a steady fundament I assume) that my friend kept falling out of her bed. Not very friendly staff either. All in all.....

The down side is the steep and curved stairs. There is no lift. Carillon is pleasantly staffed and conveniently situated in city centre. Breakfast is included and ok, cereal, eggs, ham, breads, fruits, jams, drinks. Restaurant food good. Fairly clean but they forget under the beds which was dusty. Tiny room but ok for few days, also small wc /shower...

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and although the hotel rooms are quite basic my room was clean and I was very pleased with the two different views from my room. I was right opposite the amazing cathedral and overlooked the market square right in the centre of the beautiful town of Haarlem. My bed was very comfortable...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Hotel Carillon! We're a small family-run hotel located at the heart of the beautiful city of Haarlem. We've just re-launched this hotel since January 2013 so we don't have many reviews just yet on TripAdvisor. Please allow us to tell you 3 things about our hotel:(1) Great location: We sit right off the central market square. We're 5 minutes walk to the train that takes you to Amsterdam centre in just 15 minutes.(2) Low rates: We offer very low rates for a Haarlem hotel. Our customers come to spend their time out and about enjoying what Haarlem and Amsterdam have to offer. So we are small, clean and provide the best services we can at the very best prices.(3) Great restaurant:Nestled at the ground floor is Restaurant Carillon that is a warm cosy hangout from morning to dusk. We have regular locals from the area that love the food here and even if you don't stay we'd love you to visit for a coffee, beer or evening meal. ... more   less
