We paid for a bigger room, on the first floor, overlooking the canal----would book again. Really friendly and helpful staff-----a big plus. The breakfast is good but clinical----a plate of cheese and ham to each table, along with a generous basket of breads/rolls/toast (way more than one could eat). There is a coffee machine, fresh orange juice, boiled eggs, cereals,...

De Doelen has two things going for it: location and staff. Fronting a canal, it's a short walk to the museums and the main sites in Leiden. The staff was very friendly and helpful. But the hotel itself has seen better days and is showing its age with faded and peeling wall paper, old carpeting, and a need for a...

We didn't see a taxi at the train station so we schlepped our bags along the streets to Hotel de Doelen. It was toward the end of a three week trip, and the man at the front desk saw us drag four heavy gift laden suitcases up the front stairs. "I'll bet you'd like a room on the ground floor,"...

I chose the hotel for proximity to the concert hall, and have spent two delightful days. It does not have an elevator so I took the very large room 18 facing the street. It was very quiet and comfortable, the refrigerator was quiet, the location on the canal in the very center of this charming town was perfect for me....

The hotel itself is located in a charming old building. The double-bedded room was clean and pleasant, if a bit small (ground floor), the bathroom spacious and included both tub and separate shower stall. Internet access was good; the room refrigerator was too noisy to leave plugged in. The family that owns the hotel is very kind and anxious to...

This hotel is pretty old. The double rooms on the second floor are not too bad but the single rooms on the first floor resemble more university dorm rooms rather than a 3 star hotel- walls made of paper, small and noisy. I was promised a room on the second floor for the second night as well but while I...

Wonderful staff courtesy and beautiful setting of this nice hotel. I stayed for three days and I wish I had to stay longer. Spacious rooms, clean, very well served, central yet quiet. Absolutely reliable and friendly for everyone.

The hotel is a grand old building of majestic proportions overlooking the canal. It is a family-run establishment and everyone involved is very helpful and friendly. Our room was a sizeable suite with a beautiful old fireplace surrounded by blue and white tiles. There were attractive old cupboards on either side. There was an enormous and comfortable bed with hangings...

A very nice moment we spent there. The place looks a bit old and this is giving it a very good charm. Just located in the central of Leiden at a walking distance of central station... we will come back.

We booked this hotel to attend my daughters graduation. It was a lovely hotel with both rooms we had offering a separate shower as well as bath. This was a luxury I have not seen in any other hotel The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast is an optional extra at 13.5 euros each. Entrance to...
