Having left my hometown Hasselt 50 years ago, I was ready to go back to my roots but needed a place to stay. I decided on 't Hemelhuys, a little gem tucked away on a pedestrian street, a stone-throw away from Hasselt’s serene cathedral, St. Quintinus, and close to the town’s fancy stores and great restaurants. This quaint, welcoming boutique hotel has eight spacious rooms combining modern-day comfort with old-fashioned charm. These tastefully renovated units are spread over two old stone houses connected by a small but lush garden. The short walk through this pretty garden is aptly names Chemin du Bonheur. Both owners, Ann and Liesbeth, blend discreet elegance with genuine small-town warmth, and go out of their way to make guests feel at home. And, just like the owners, the young staff is very attentive to the guests’ needs and, in addition, smiles a lot -- a pleasant touch that augments one’s enjoyment of the place. Breakfasts are most inviting: a selection of assorted fresh breads and bakery products, home-made jams, cheeses, fresh fruit and, for hungrier people, a variety of egg dishes. Location + charm + service + comfort + caring owners + friendly staff = compelling combination to embrace 't Hemelhuys, a delightful hotel of superb taste in a town that prides itself on being Hoofdstad van de Smaak (Capital of Good Taste).…
Clean. Calm. Quiet. Great design ideas. Gorgeous wooden floors. Friendly. Great bed. Quality breakfast and eggs in demand. Excellent bread and croissants. With garden and books to read. We missed a coffee in the room for my husband.
My parents both turned eighty this year and were given a luxurious breakfast experience at this ‘boutique’ B&B in Hasselt. Unfortunately it was a very disappointing gift. There simply wasn’t enough food to go round. By the time they were ready to eat a croissant there were none left. The eggs that they had ordered took a long time to arrive and in the end were served on a tiny saucer with one rash of bacon each. There was half a kiwi each and some orange juice (fresh?). My parents had been really looking forward to this outing on the day of their wedding anniversary. The owners were fully aware of this and didn’t make the slightest effort to make them feel special. Unfortunately we won’t be recommending the place to our international friends visiting Hasselt.
We stayed at this B&B for two nights, we were given a lovely welcome on arrival. t Hemelhuys sits conveniently in a side street in the centre of the town. This is a lovely place, our room was very comfortable, well decorated and equipped. We had very quiet comfortable sleeps and awoke to smell fresh baked bread each morning. The host and staff were very helpful and friendly and breakfast was a lovely affair each morning with everything fresh. This place is well priced and we will certainly return here again soon. Please note that there is no parking within the street but there are various car parks close by within walking distance.
Charmehotel 't Hemelhuys is located in the middle of the charming city Hasselt (with good, secure parking facilities around the corner – 5 minutes walk). Many shops, pubs and restaurants in walking distance. The old (small) building is turned into lovely decorated and comfortable bed rooms with nice, very clean bathrooms (washing basin, toilet and bath or shower). Breakfast is fantastic with fresh juice, eggs cooked in the way you want, nice (home made) bread and croissants, good cheese and meat cuts, superb fresh fruit selection. A real pleasure. The hosts are warm and welcoming. We really enjoyed staying in this lovely place with two excellent hosts.
it is very well located in the city of Hasselt, the staff was very nice and the breakfast was very good. They offer a set of different rooms, so make sure you check them all out before you choose! The value is good and we had a very warm and welcoming stay here. I recommend reserving a parking spot.
What a lovely place! Consists of two separate buildings, both renovated to an extremely high standard located in the center of town. Parking, as always in Belgium was a challenge and if no spaces available at the hotel one had to use the near by multistory car park (expensive) .It was though only a very short walk away when using the second building for entrance to the property. Breakfast was one of the best I have had in B&B's. freshly squeezed orange juice, cheeses, meats, jams, eggs cooked to your liking, different breads and croissants etc. Modern designed rooms, clean and very comfortable with excellent showers and plenty of hot water. The establishment is run by two English speaking ladies who are extremely pleasant and helpful and go out of their way to help and make your stay enjoyable. Location in the center of town is great, nearby many eateries of differing style. Next time when in Hasselt we will say here, no question!…
For the second time we staid one night here. Perfect location, in the center of town. And still very quiet. The breakfast is the best. Fresh fruit, lots of cheese, meat, jam, whatever you like. You don't gave to ask for an egg: the lady of the house - genuinely friendly- offers any preparation, and don't worry: it' great!
OK you don't spell 'wot' like that , but this hotel (Inn might be better word) is an immaculately restored house, in the heart of old Hasselt , where you are given a smiling welcome. Our room was small, but so what ? For night or two just fine. The bed was super comfy, the lay out of the room was a paragon of design with thoughtful accoutrements, and the breakfast was great, eggs , croissants and super fresh squeezed orange juice. Really go try it , treat your self .
We went to Hasselt to meet family of my wife. It was very special that the last people who lived in this hotel, before it was turned into a hotel, was actually family. Besides that, it was a great place. Close to the center. Lots of restaurants and bars in walking distance. The building itself is beautifully renavoted. We had a room on the first floor in front. It was a little noisy (students I guess). Other members of the family had rooms in the back. The rooms are very convenient and the shower is great. In the morning the breakfast was good. Fresh bread, croissants, orange juice and an egg any style you want it. And the best thing was: This breakfast was served by another far relative of my wife.
