Great value, spotless and roomy apartment, fine breakfast and good restaurant, a short walk to transport connections and the city centre, Ghent is my favourite Belgian city, like Bruges but much less touristy! I highly recommend the Castelnou.
Good sized apartment, close to the center of Gent. All you need to stay in the apartment you find in it. Rooms are very clean, the breakfast was nice with plenty of choice. Parking on the street cost €6 per day. Very friendly staff.

Just around the corner you find food market Lousbergmarkt with biologically grown fruit & vegetables, a large variety of cheeses and also a baker. In the street parallel to ours, you'll find a small grocery store 'De Baere' and a 7' walk from the hotel you'll find a shopping mall with a large supermarket on the -1 level.
Hope this answers your question.

Hi. There is no tram. The city is truly beautiful and relaxing so we always walked. We have a small child and he never complained about the walk. I'm sure there are public transport but we just enjoyed the city by walking.
