We stayed two nights in the Big Sleep in Ghent in May of 2012 while cycling through Belgium. Our rooms were lovely, spacious, clean and very comfortable. Our hostess was outstanding! She suggested several exhibits that we were not aware of, helped with a medical emergency issue and was friendly and pleasant. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful. We would stay...

We have just returned from a four night stay in Ghent, basing ourselves at Michaela's bed and breakfast which we found excellent. An ideal setting, a short walk from Dampoort station, it was quiet yet only 5 minutes walk to the bustling centre. Our room was lovely, very spacious and comfortable with a view over the canal. Breakfast, served in...

I already knew this bed & breakfast from 99. It kept the same qualities I noticed before. Clean and big rooms, all renovated, in a beautiful antique house with high walls and wooden floor, with a delicious breakfast in the morning. We just loved the matresses and maybe that´s why we slept like angels there. The owner, Michaela, was always available...

Michaëla Delbaere and her husband have renovated a beautiful three story brewmaster's house and converted the third floor into 3 rooms for a B&B. Extremely tall ceilings with beautiful plaster mouldings and a marble floored entrance hall invite you into a slice of historic Ghent. Updated with fun modern chandeliers and decorated with artifacts from-------,  Michaëla has created a warm...

We visited Gent for three days. We slept in "Big Sleep" (beautiful mansion) for three nights in a large sized bedroom and a very comfortable bed. Shower and bathroom very clean and tidy. The breakfast in the morning was simply perfect. A hostess, modest and most friendly. The vibrant city centre less than 5 minutes away on foot.

We stayed 3 nights at The Big Sleep in mid October. We were the only guests at the time. We had the big room at the back with TV and small fridge. Shower cubicle in corner with basin next to it. Room was quiet and clean except for a few cobwebs on the ceiling. Although up two flights of stairs...

We spent two nights here is May 2009. It seems to be called The Big Sleep now. Strange set up with the toilets being separate but it was ok and I've seen similar in a hotel in Amsterdam. The stairs are a pain if you have heavy luggage. The room was adequate and of a reasonable size. Location was quite...

On a recent trip to Belgium, we had trouble deciding on a place to stay in Ghent. Nothing stood out for us, in either the hotel or B&B listings. I ended up looking through a Belgian website for B&B's in Ghent, and contacted several possibilities. We decided on the (Trip Advisor unrated) B&B operated by Michaela Delbaere, in a quiet,...

“We preferred the green room on the canal side, but all the rooms were good, as far as we could see..”

“If you are a light sleeper and like a quieter room, ask Michaela for the one facing the back of the house, if possible. The front rooms were on a well traveled route that was quite noisy in the morning.”
