Firstly this is a nice building, spectacular location in a most beautiful, historic city, very nice rooms, good bathroom, nice common areas. Breakfast was also very good. Its a very easy walk from the hotel into the heart of Ghent and as I have already said this town is beautiful to look at. Now the problem, we were traveling as... More

I would stay here again if I return to Ghent. The location can't be beat. Car access is at the back of the hotel, but as you step out the front door... oh, what a gorgeous view. The hotel is walking distance to all the attractions of the old city, many restaurants/ cafes, and the shopping streets. The interior of... More

Ok. We came back from here today. We stayed for two days. The plus points are: 1) Great location. You really are a short walking distance from everything. 2) Staff are very friendly and speak good english which helps as my french is poor and my flemish even worse. 3) The breakfast is very good. 4) The rooms are very... We spent a few nights in this hotel and booked an expensive room with a view on the river. The location of the hotel is great to visit most of the old city on foot. We did and enjoyed the view and the cosy terrace atmosphere in the evening from our room. The buffet breakfast was very comprehensive with a... More

The canal side of this hotel utilizes the original architecture, but behind the walls lies this modern, small Marriott. Excellent location in the old city. Small garage underneath if needed, though this is a walking/biking city where no car is necessary. Nice casual lounge in the open lobby.

The location is amazing, cant be beat. We couldn't check in until 4pm on the dot because our room was not ready. Needed a key for elevators and even public restroom which I thought was a bit much. Our room was good, comfy bed and clean. Lobby was really beautiful in the evenings (but dont sit in there, go sit... More

Perfect position for exploring Ghent. And that's it, admittedly a big plus. But the staff were callow and useless. Arriving tired from London at 5:45pm we were told our room wasn't ready. At 5:45. After insisting they find us another room despite their entreaties that none were available they finally caved and allocated a room. I'm not sure what time... More

A fantastic place to stay until the middle of Ghent. The service was wonderful and everything was within walking distance. The facilities provided for computer access and business was superb. If you need to do business in Ghent, The Marriott has everything you need.
