Here you can gaze at the Atlantic Ocean - maybe catch a glimpse of a whale's tail as they play in the bay, or watch the colorful Atlantic Puffins dive for caplin. Close your eyes and enjoy the peaceful tranquility of the waves roaring to shore and crashing on the pebbled beach from your private deck. Bears Cove Inn is on the East Coast Trail overlooking the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve and only minutes away from many other attractions, including boat tours, skidoo trails, fishing and hunting area.

Our group of 12 people was just perfect! Honestly everything you need is already there for your stay outside of your meals and beverages. As a group we all had our own rooms and bathrooms with very comfy beds. The grounds are beautiful, the hot tub spa room exceeded our expectations, so clean with lots of towels. The kitchen has everything for cooking all meals, plenty of plates, glasses, cups and utensils. Ice provided in the freezer which I thought was excellent too. The house is beautiful and so cozy with plenty of room. The East Coast trail is so close and the rocky beach is across the street. I would recommend Bear’s Cove Inn 100% to anyone. We thank Kendra whom I might add is very easy to reach by phone and is very pleasant.

We will definitely return as a group

We stayed here 4 nights, July 30 - Aug. 3, 2012. Ver easy to find from Hwy. 10, nice
rooms, comfortable bed, quiet and clean, good breakfasts. Free WiFi and there is also
a computer for guest use in the lounge. Nice view from front rooms on second floor.
Good location for whale and bird tours and going down to Colony of Avalon at
Ferryland. Very good value, especially when compared to hotels in St. John's and just
35 minutes drive from the city.

Bear's Cove is a completely renovated once nursing home. Seven rooms, eight baths, beautiful furnishing and decore. Linda and Clayton are professionals who now how to entertain and provide service. Sitting room and dining room are exceptional.
Clayton turns out a great breakfast (a food and beverage guy for years). Rooms have ocean view and are three walking minutes from East Coast Trail. On dead end road so absolutely quiet. Rooms are immaculate and the hosts exceptional.

While it was a beautiful place, we did not enjoy our stay. We were the only ones in the house. It was contactless entry, and the host did not stay on the site. The stay was supposed to have breakfast, but it was not a great breakfast based on what we paid. Some cereal and milk. Instant porridge. Coffee and tea. I loaf bread, a toaster. It was a very lonely, creepy stay and we were glad we were only staying one night. I think the place is better suited for rental to a group of people, or at least two couples.

We recently stayed at the Bears Cove Inn for 4 nights. The Inn is spotlessly clean and the staff was fantastic. The staff made every effort to make sure your stay was pleasant, often offering advice on what to see and do in the area. Although not directly located on the sea, you can walk to the beach in 2 minutes. It's a short drive to St. John's. I highly recommend the Bears Cove Inn!

We stayed here one night to be near Witless Bay and were vary glad we did. The owners are friendly and accomodating, and the breakfast was well prepared. The room was clean and comfortable. We appreciated being within a short walk to a trailhead for the East Coast Trail.

Would highly recommend this Inn to anyone travelling in the area - great location if wanting to spend the day in St. John's (only a 25 minute drive). We stayed two nights (had only planned on staying one). The owners Clayton and Linda were very hospitable and Linda cooked us a great breakfast both mornings (included in the price). Very modern and well maintained Inn with very comfortable beds - has all the amenities you need. They also own the Sapphire Restaurant and Pub in Bay Bulls (right up the street) and they are great too. The Inn overlooks the ocean and the east coast trail is close and the view from the trail was breathtaking. Would highly recommend a stay at the Bears Cove Inn - thank you Clayton and Linda.

We spent two nights in mid-June at the Bears Cove Inn. This is a relatively new building, on a secondary road very near to the coast. The office, dining room and a small common room, as well as a few rooms, are on the first floor; the remaining rooms are on the second floor (no elevator). We had a room at the front of the inn on the second floor. It was nicely furnished, if a bit small; with the suitcases on the floor, there was little room to walk through. The room included a double bed (very comfy), a private bath and a small balcony. And from that balcony, we could see, out in Witless Bay, an iceberg on our first day there, and a second one on the next day! The Inn does have free wireless Internet access; ask the staff for the access code. Breakfast is available at the Inn, but not included in the price of the room: approx. $5 for continental and about $8 for American.

The owners and their staff are very friendly, and helpful in suggesting restaurants, gift shops, and local attractions. The rooms are spotless, and the food good. It was the most expensive of the places we stayed, but I believe the rate is comparable to others in that area (near St. John’s and the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve).

I have stayed at many b&b's, most of them were wonderfully memorable, this is one experience, however, my friends, husband, and I would rather forget. The owner was never around, the staff that was around was clueless, the breakfast was unimaginative, the eggs cold, and no choices were offered. The beds were not made during the day, the towels not changed, and no one was there to speak to! The inn was not locked at night, nor was anyone around to offer help. Thanks go out though to Maria, the groundskeeper, who was the only one who offered some insight and useful information. We stayed 2 nights, but left early after our second night, purposely not eating breakfast at Bears Cove. The inn was clean, but I had to make my bed, empty my waste basket, and reuse my towel. The wifi was also unreliable.

Two nights at a wonderful oasis on this rugged coast. Rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated, comfortable bed and bedding. Breakfast was just the right size without making me feel that I have over eaten. Host was accommodating with information and time.

I also paid $129 for the room in the back. It had its own bathroom (quite big). I was happy with the breakfast and the location (easy to find, easy to park, easy access to boat tours in the area.
