We stayed at Witless Bay Suites in August for 2 nights and greatly enjoyed it. The unit was spacious, very clean, and relatively new in comparison to what one usually encounters when staying in rural Newfoundland accommodations.
Compared to a B & B, we preferred the additional living space and the capability to make your own breakfast and other meals when you wanted (rather than on someone else’s schedule).
Owners live 2 doors away and were very friendly and happy to provide information on the local area and things to see and do.
A good option vs. paying for much higher priced St. John’s hotels as the city is only a 20 minute drive.
We plan to go back again.

This is not a B & B so don't expect to have a breakfast provided by a host. It is a suite with a bedroom, living room, bathroom, and kitchen facilities. It is very clean and sits on a small hill overlooking a harbor. The suite is part of a one year old 2-story building. There is no common area for all the suites. The owner/host lives off premises.
Coffee and tea were available to make in the kitchen. We were given a decent price for the stay.
The bathroom is in one room only with a shower only (no tub), a toilet, and vanity and mirror. We had a very comfortable bed. An older, small flat screen TV was provided with satellite channel lineup.
We were definitely well-rested for moving on the next morning. Just had to go elsewhere for breakfast. So when in Witless Bay, enjoy a stay with a view of the harbor.

Witless Bay Suites proved to be ideal for the 10-night stay during my first trip to Newfoundland. After many hours of checking for adequate lodging at a reasonable price before the trip, I discovered this jewel among the mediocre and, surprisingly, the most affordable. Since we were travelling from our home in North Carolina, such planning was important. We were delighted to find the living space in the suite to be much more than usual. It had a full kitchen, modest but tasteful furnishings.The rooms were quite clean and well-kept. Its location is in a quiet neighborhood over ooking Witless Bay. After spending full days of touring and sight-seeing, it was a pleasure to come "home" to relax and have a restful sleep. The location was also a great base for day trips and it is a short driving distance from St. John's. The best part of staying there was the superb hospitality and kindness of our hostess, who attended to our comfort and needs every day. She will be a part of our great memories of our wonderful Newfoundland adventure!

I was initially concerned as to whether this accommodation was still operating as there were no recent reviews here on Tripadvisor when I was booking in early 2019. However, contact and booking with host Sheila by email was easy and the suite great. Location is excellent just off the main road through Witless Bay and they are positioned on a slope above the bay with lovely views of the bay from the front units . We stayed two nights in early July in one of these front units which was clean, bright and spacious with a good living/dining/kitchen facilities and separate bedroom. Good value but check the price when you book as it may not be up to date on the website. There is no reception as such - when you arrive ring Sheila from the phone just inside the upper floor - she arrived very quickly to check us in.

We spent 4 nights at Witless Bay Suites as our base for exploring the Avalon Peninsula and St. John's. It was a terrific choice for us!
The accommodation is great - spotlessly clean, lots of towels, quiet and a very well equipped kitchen with really thoughtful touches including coffee, tea, salt/pepper, etc. (and we had a great view of an iceberg to boot!)
We found the location great for exploring far and wide - and we were thrilled to return to our suite at the end of the day.

Our family of four spent just one night at the Suites in August of 2013. We had a basement, hill facing suite with two bedrooms, a HUGE kitchen, living room, bathroom, and closet space for all.
Sheila checked us in, gave us all sorts of information and even gave us some salt and pepper, which we'd forgotten. There are two barbecues for guest use, and you can cook with a view of Witless Bay.
The suite was very clean, well-organized, well-equipped, and there's a Foodland just five minutes away in Bay Bulls. For a weary traveller tired of restaurant food, cooking our own dinner, even having barbecue was a welcome break.
Beds were comfy, towels were fluffy, and the water was soft.
Although there is a 'sand beach' in Witless Bay, the ecological reserve right at the end of the street the suites are on are a perfect way to spend an evening.

My mom and I stayed at Witless Bay Suites while exploring the Avalon region. It was a convenient location for us to come back to after exploring St. John's, dinner at Cape Spear Lighthouse and then to catch an early boat tour in Witless Bay. My mom was able to take the bedroom and there was tons of extra bedding for me to comfortably sleep on the pull-out sofa. It was nice to have our own kitchen for preparing snacks and breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights at this location. The place was very clean, had a beautiful view of the water from our room and the owner was helpful to bring extra bedding and give us tips on where to eat and what to do in the area.

The accommodations at Witless Bay Suites are fairly spacious, clean, and perfectly located! Sheila does a wonderful job of making sure you have everything you need. There are horses and ponies across the street and beyond them, a beautiful view of Witless Bay. We were even able to see a whale from our window! Just at the end of Gallows Cove Road is Gallows Cove itself, full of whales and puffins. I can't wait to go back!

We just came back from a visit to Newfoundland. I would recommend this place. The owners had a very friendly, relaxed attitude. We had a nice suite with a bedroom, living room and kitchen. The building overlooks the water, and there is a nice beach at the end of the road. Not far from boat trips, St John's, other nice locations on the Irish Loop.

Sheila was very welcoming and helpful. The suite was much larger than we expected and clean throughout. Fully equipped kitchen. Scenic views of the cove. Dining options were quite limited, but we had a good meal at the Captain's Table (about 2 kilometres away).
