The place is in the middle of the old town, which is a 15 minute walk to the pedestrian street and most restaurants. It is a pleasant walk though. The room is small but functional. They cleaned my room everyday and even folded my own cloths! The decoration is corny, but it is funny! You have the feeling of sleeping...

Stayed one night in the center of Coimbra, what is enough to visit the city. You get a lot of information when you arrive. Double room was not very big but clean and OK. Washtable on the room, shared bathroom on the floor.

We stayed at Casa Pombal for two nights and loved our stay there. We were given friendly advice on what to see and where to go which helped us get the most of our stay in Coimbra. Casa Pombal is in the historic part of Coimbra and close to the university which has some great things to see. The breakfasts...

From the reviews, I was expecting a really special experience. There's no doubt that this is a fairly unique place with a unique proprietor, but not necessarily in a good way. The room was tiny (even by European standards) and the bed was really, really uncomfortable. The bathroom is shared but conveniently, there is a basin in the room. There's...

very nice place, colorful, romantic rooms (the ones with shared bathroom nicer than the one with its own bathroom, at least on the second floor). The owner is a very energetic Dutch woman, who is helpful in planning your time in Coimbra, although tends to underestimate walking distances.. Breakfast was included, and was okay - although I was missing scrambled...

This is an inexpensive bed and breakfast accommodation with a difference. Located near the university on the top of a hill overlooking the city and close to several of the key attractions and points of historical interest. It is a €5-€6 taxi ride from the train station and although within walking distance, once you know your way around, the taxi...

The pension is the best I had in Portugal and one of the best I ever had it all. Location : the best I could have in Coimbra. Not far from University. The only drawback of such location is that it impossible to park the car near pension when there are studies. So, be ready for alternative parking. We parked...

The ladies running this place are very nice and accomodating. This B&B is really a "in the centre" hostel type. Rich breakfast. Good price. Highly recommended.

We found the welcome cheery and gladly accepted helpful tips about what to see and where to eat from the friendly owner . As we were travelling with our daughter and the rooms are tiny, we were obliged to take a second room with a shared bathroom just for us - only, bad luck - the night (and following morning)...

This is a small, no frills B&B. The color scheme is a bit psychedelic but the rooms are clean and comfortable. The owner, whose name escapes me at this moment, is absolutely lovely (a Dutch national). When we checked in she sat down with us in her garden and told us what we should do while in Coimbra. She even...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa Pombal is a small bed & breakfast on the top of a hill in the historical heart of Coimbra. This old townhouse is utterly unpretentious and will stir feelings of nostalgia for those student years. The rooms are basic, but stylish decorated, each with its own Portuguese atmosphere. All rooms have heating and most rooms have private bathrooms. Some rooms have a beautiful view over the city and the river Mondego. Breakfast is Included in the price. ... more   less
