Spectacular service and accommodations. I stayed in a Deluxe Sea View room overlooking the water but still conveniently near the train station. Both the reception staff and breakfast service were exceptional - helpful in each and every way in setting up airport transfers, surf spots and day trip information, and lots of fresh squeezed orange juice (yum) with the breakfast buffet overlooking the sea and sand. I will definitely make the Albatroz my home away from home along the Portuguese Riviera and look forward to returning this spring.
One of the best small hotels in Europe. Beautiful location set right on the Ocean. Lovely rooms with exceptional service. Super powerful shower and kind staff who are very helpful. Watch out for the amazing Nunu at breakfast who does an incredible job of remembering what you had the day before and anticipates your every need. Lots of restaurants nearby and a magnificent seawall to walk on.
It is seldom that one can leave an establishment and not think that there was something that you could be improved. This ,however, is one of them. We came to this hotel because the hotel at which we usually stay was charging ridiculous rates. We walked in and felt welcome from the minute that our feet crossed the threshold. The excellent young man on the desk made us feel as though we were the people that he had wanted to greet all day. We were shown to our room and we had a distinctly pleasant view with a small terrace which we did not use because it was a little cool in the month of November. The bed was of perfect proportions and extremely comfortable. Whoever cleaned the room can come to my house and clean any day that she likes. The place was spotless. We did not need to use the heating or cooling controls and the only thing that I would advise about rooms facing the city side is that there could be a little noise from The railway which does not pass the hotel but is a little way down the road. We slept beautifully. The bathroom had a good walk in shower and there was nothing that was missing. As I said before everything is spotlessly clean. We had dinner in the restaurant and can recommend it to anyone. The food was excellent and they had some absolutely magnificent wines. It is not cheap, but compared with what one would’ve paid for a similar establishment in Britain or in France, it seemed reasonable to our wallets Since the town is heaving with different restaurants, those on a budget will not have to walk far. There is also a very pleasant area around the pool and the bar area and again the staff were so pleasant and friendly. I think that this is one of the greatest points of the hotel. The staff here are pleasant, friendly approachable, but always professional. Of all, it is João on reception who is one person that I will never forget. He is simply brilliant at what he does. Breakfast in the morning has plenty of choice, and if you do not care (and I do not particularly) for mass cooked, scrambled eggs, they will gladly make you an omelette or fried eggs. Once again, the professionalism was a joy to behold. They even have a turndown service, and I have not experienced that in years as none of the chain hotels seem to do this anymore. In short this is literally one of the best hotels that I have stayed in. I even cancelled a booking elsewhere in order to return I can recommend the hotel without the slightest hesitation.…
We stayed in early November for three nights. I highly recommend the hotel. The service was friendly and helpful, the property is beautifully decorated and located right over the bay. Our room overlooked the street and parking: but we had no street noise and loved regrouping on the large balcony with lounger, chairs and table. The room was exactly like the online photos. The bed was comfortable, everything was spotless, and the decanter of complimentary port was a nice touch. We ended each evening on the terrace with dessert. The desserts were stunning, and the view unbeatable for sunset and watching lights in the harbor. The staff was so pleasant and helpful, even with pronunciation of some Portuguese words we were trying to learn. There’s a surprising amount to see in Cascais even without a trip to Sintra. The local park and museums were great. I would definitely come back to stay at the Albatroz.…
Great hotel by the sea. Had a room 114 with ocean and pool view. The rooms are kept very traditional with all the amenities of a 5 star hotel. Complementary port wine and sweets upon our arrival. Parking available and conveniently located near everything! Breakfast buffet was included and it was delicious but it could have more options of hot plates.
Great location and a very cool hotel. Pool and pool area are nice and have great views of grotto on the ocean. Close to everything in old town Cascais! Well maintained and very nice staff! Lobby and sitting area's are plain and don't have much to offer. Our room was nice but petit with spacious veranda while looking over the beach was also nice! Bed was super comfortable.
This review is for the restaurant. Our group came for dinner. We enjoyed a variety of pre dinner cocktails from the extensive menu. Very pleasant to sit out on the terrace overlooking the bay. The food menu was equally inviting and we enjoyed a selection of starters and main course to share. The food was well prepared, fresh and a real treat. Service was on the slow side, but otherwise a very pleasurable evening.
Lovely hotel - felt special but not at all stuffy. We stayed for a week in a deluxe sea view room. Perfect position with wonderful views. Spotlessly clean with wonderful helpful staff. Would have liked a kettle in the room and perhaps a change of breakfast offerings during the week but they’re minor niggles. Will definitely go back again!
This is a wonderful hotel, with a nice, relaxed vibe and friendly staff. The bar area is a great place to hang out and was impressed with the hotel restaurant which actually had a few vegetarian options. The only thing was our room was not what I expected from a 5-star hotel, and needed a revamp. Other than that I would recommend it and maybe next time book a room with a terrace.
I spent 9 days travelling in Portugal and I stayed at excellent hotels in Porto and Douro valley but this one of the best by far. Located at the beach and literally in town this hotel is beautiful. My room big had fantastic views of the pool and the ocean. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Always trying to make you happy. The food was the best I had in Portugal period. We had plans to go out for dinner in the area but on the first night decided to eat at the hotel. It was fantastic ! The chef at this hotel deserves more than one Michelin star ( i heard he had one from a previous place). It was a 10 overall. Great great time, THE BEST .
