Alone sick with allergies, in a simple room over the parking lot, eating a sushi roll and drinking 3 gin a tonic aday....was charge an unreasonable $3700.00 for 8 days. I feel cheated.....because i was.
This was a last minute change because of not being able to travel to Lake Garda for a birthday weekend. What a result! Stunning in every way from the room, food, service and location. This really is an 'escape' venue, close enough to Lisbon, but far enough way to be peaceful and special. If you like falling asleep to the sounds of waves crashing onto rocks outside of your room - there would be very few better places in the world. Stunning. Thanks Ana Maria and the team - and our #1 waiter in the restaurant. You were amazing and you know who you are!
My only complaint about the hotel is the 'atmospheric' lighting. My husband found it difficult to shave in the low lighting in the bathroom. I was disappointed not to be able to appreciate the visual aspect of the degustation menu in the fine dining restaurant as the lighting is so low. I had to use the torch on my phone to read the menu! I have one complaint about the food at both breakfast and dinner, the hot food was cold. We were served lukewarm soup and fish, cold duck which I sent back, cold scrambled eggs and bacon at breakfast. Such good quality food deserves better treatment. Such a shame. But none of this spoilt the fantastic decor, ambiance, service and location of this really top notch hotel.
We have already told several friends in Germany about your hotel..we will be back that is for sure...the waves were huge ,the area was so interesting and looking right out to the atlantic Ocean and the light house and house to visit for just a dollar was so interesting and all the pictures and history displaued was perfect and it was quiet and warm not hot hot in November abt 16 to 20 degrees Celsius
My wife and I stayed at the Farol for a couple of days during our trip to Portugal. We decided to stay on the outskirts of Lisbon and the Farol is about 20 minutes out right on the Atlantic in Cascais. The hotel is boutiquey, small and intimate with great art and design throughout the hotel. Most of the rooms have been recently updated as was ours. Our room was beautiful and had an incredible view of the ocean and especially the sunset. The staff were all very nice and accommodating especially Monica at reception. They have two restaurants, The Mix and Sushi Design, both are excellent options. They also have a great bar and pool area. The location was perfect for us. It is close to attractions like Sintra and the town of Cascais is very picturesque and Lisbon is only a short drive. I would visit this property again…
