What a wonderful evening!! Our time with Ana was one of the best evenings we have had. Ana, her daughter and the cute animals were warm and engaging. Her cooking is delicious and she is so warm and friendly that you do not need to be worried about what to talk. Her apartment is super charming, we really enjoyed the...

Very friendly people and affordable! Ok, as a Swiss couple we are certainly used to a high standard of living. For us, the pans in the kitchen were in a desolate state and not useful any more. Internet was very shaky over all 10 days we stayed there. But we enjoyed it very much and can really recommend to stay...

I really like this hostel, but it's not easy to rate it due to a few minors issues that can be easily resolved, but weren't based on previous reviews. Location: Excellent. It's a 5 minutes walk from either Rosso or Restauradores. Extremely convenient to take the airport bus (better than subway). The area is a little noisy, but it didn't...

We loved our stay here. The hotel is right in the middle of things but at night we barely heard any noise from outside. Our room – Tejo – was small but the bed was big and comfortable. It was opposite the shared toilets and there's no soundproofing so you're at the mercy of the late-night toilet habits of the...

The location is perfect, shop and restaurants on the doorstep, 40 min from the airport by metro, members of staff were very friendly and helpful. Room very, very basic but we didn't spend much time in there anyway. Great value for money!

Cozy and simple guesthouse in very central location with nice vibe. Only think that we missed was realiable wifi. It works only in reception but not in our room. We appreciated breakfast which was included, you can make yourself eggs or orange fresh juice.

What we love about the Lisbon Story, other than the wonderful people we've met there, is its location and its price. There is a variety of room options, from simple with shared bathroom to suites and an apartment with private bath, all with their own distinctive charm, The rooms and breakfast are an incredible value for a place that literally...

Great place to stay when you want to explore the city. Located in the middle of the old town, you can nearly walk to every destination within the city (we even walked to Torre del Belem - fair enough, this took a while). Small "story" rooms with either a shared or an own bathroom. We did prefer to have an...

I had a very pleasant stay in this guesthouse last September. It is located in the city centre so close to Lisbon’s main attractions. There is a nice common area facing the main square where you can read, have something to drink or simply relax. Breakfast was included however there is also a communal kitchen so you can cook your...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
