This was the perfect place to stay for a weekend in Lisbon. We could see the waterfront from our window. The staff served us breakfast to order in the morning and were very helpful with suggestions and walking directions. The bathrooms were clean and new, as were the dorms. Very near to the tram too. I would definitely stay there...

This hostel was a great choice, right in the centre of Lisbon. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the activities run every night were a great chance to meet other travellers. The rooms were clean, wifi coverage was good, and the included breakfast was a delightful way to start the day. Only downside was that I was in...

Travellers hostel has one of the best localization in Lisbon. Rua Augusta is the main and most famous street in city. Hostel is nice but for me it's not cozy enough. Well it may be more about my preference than real state. Worst part of hostel for me are showers. Hot water barley dripping while you taking a shower. Not...

I agree with all the other positive comments- the travellers house is a great place to stay. I came twice- once with my family, once with two friends. All the rooms I have seen where clean, beautiful, the atmosphere in the hostel is great, they organize lots of things that you can participate in (bar crawls, meals to share for...

This was my second time to stay at this hostel. I stayed in a double en-suite room which was as good as any hotel room. The place was clean and towels and linen were clean. We got a very friendly reception when we checked in and throughout our 2 night stay, all the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. There's...

The hostel is suitable for all ages and different budgets. 2 of my friends stayed in the private room with private bath and is like staying in a hotel! I stayed in a 6 bed-dorm and I like the tall ceiling - you won't bump your head when sitting in the bottom bed or upper bed. Alex was very friendly...

This place is awesome! I have never stayed in a hostel before as this is my very fist time! I was very impressed at this place for so many reasons; the location is centrally located in a popular street where all the actions are being taken, the warm welcome of the people, RENATO was the best! From the time I...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
