This hotel is lovely/wonderful. We have normally always stayed at the sister hotel - The Vintage but we could not get in this trip. The rooms are quite unique in that it is almost a mini apartment. We stayed in Room 2E (one bed apartment). Communication from the hotel at the very onset is phenomenal. They are on the ball. So, let me pick on some downers to help with the review. We stayed 6 nights (probably too long for Lisbon). Whilst our room was lovely we were facing the staff bedrooms of the Indian restaurant across the street (see picture) and we had full visibility of them dressing and their awful accommodation. Whilst the hotel is in a great location - our room must have been in a road where noise was awful in the wee hours of the morning. We are talking about loud singing/talking from the area and no amount of sound proofing can stop that - we are talking until 3am/4am non stop. In fact we left at 5am for our flight and we could see these individuals still shouting in the street! It wasn’t really an issue for us as we live under the flight path of Heathrow Airport back home! We had the most incredible spa treatments during our stay - probably the best Ayurdervic Massage ever (80 mins). Now, the downside - the spa space! There is a reason that they ask you to book a slot for use of the spa - there is only space really for 1 person on the changing room. I tried to use the facility every evening without booking and was normally lucky - but it was extremely claustrophobic. I could certainly use the steam room but the sauna was just a No. After our fantastic treatments - there was also zero place to truly relax and enjoy the treatment. You need to move on pretty quickly. However - one of the best massages ever! The breakfast was truly amazing - great choice and freshly prepared - we are early risers so 7.30 (although late for us) was a good time and nice and quiet to enjoy the sunrise. There are not many people that know how to make a good coffee - but these guys can do it! We are back home and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As lovely as the hotel is - we think The Vintage would work better for us in terms of room space (albeit without the kitchen) but much more spa space and a location that may be better for us in terms of noise level).

Dear Shazfern, Thank you for sharing your detailed review of your recent stay at The Lumiares Hotel & Spa. We are delighted to hear that you found our hotel lovely and appreciated the unique apartment-style rooms, as well as the phenomenal communication from our team. Our hotel was constructed with triple-glazed windows, soundproof walls, and doors to ensure our guests’ comfort and tranquility in one of Lisbon’s most emblematic areas. While this is usually enough to provide comfort to our guests, on some occasions the noise outbursts in the street do happen. We were glad to eventually have been able to move you to a Suite on the other side of the building to shelter you from this noise. We are thrilled that you enjoyed the incredible spa treatments, particularly the Ayurvedic massage, and the breakfast offerings. Your feedback regarding the spa space is valuable, and we will consider it for future improvements. We appreciate your kind words about our coffee and are pleased that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay despite the minor inconveniences. We hope to welcome you back to The Lumiares or our sister hotel, The Vintage, in the future. The Lumiares Team

The Lumiares Hotel and Spa in Lisbon was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in abroad. What a wonderful welcome to this beautiful city. The hotel deserves every single one of its 5 stars, from the front desk reception to the accommodations and the wonderful rooftop bar with a perfect view. An espresso maker along with a complementary bottle of Portuguese wine...all of the best touches to make it a perfect room. The Jet-Lag massage I got from their spa on site was phenomenal and a must-do on your arrival day! From the moment we walked in we were treated as if we were their most special guests and staying at this property was one of the best choices I made during our summer vacation!

It was a privilege to stay at the Lumiares. I have travelled extensively on business and am very discerning about the hotels I use, and I have to say most hotels let themselves down on a couple of points. Not the Lumiares. Every member of staff was entirely focused on the customer and could not do enough for us. The location is perfect for Bairro Alto/Chiado/Principe Real and we walked most places or took a relatively cheap Uber.

The room was just right for a 4 night stay - nice bedroom, and a lovely separate sitting/TV area. There was also a well equipped, pristine kitchen, with Smeg appliances ,which was all we needed, including a dishwasher.

The hotel organised our pick-up from the airport and it was a seamless, high quality experience.

The Lumiares certainly contributed very positively to the experience of our time in Lisbon.

The Lumiares Hotel & Spa is an excellent boutique option in the heart of the Biarro Alto neighborhood. The hotel has amazing studio - 2 Bedroom apartment style rooms. We had two couples in a 2-bedroom apartment for 6 nights, and it was perfect! The apartments are so cute- modern, clean and comfortable! The beds were very comfortable, and the noise cancelling measures taken by the hotel to keep the rooms quiet is so helpful! Having access to a kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and coffee maker was so helpful for our long stay! We had a comfortable place to sit and enjoy our leftovers!

The hotel location is great! It is walking distance to so many shops and restaurants, and it is an easy walk to the historical sites and train stations. We walked everywhere in the city from the hotel! Biarro Alto has so many great restaurants, but the hotel is home to two great options. We enjoyed delicious pizza at M’arrecreo Pizzeria, and we loved our daily breakfast at Lumo Rooftop Restaurant! Lumo is a highlight of the hotel. The staff is amazing! The food and cocktails are delicious, and the views are some of the best in the city!

The spa at the hotel was wonderful! They communicate and check in regularly via What's App. The bar and restaurant staff were so warm and friendly, and the housekeeping staff kept the room immaculate!

Lastly, the spa and gym at this hotel are fantastic! They offer a variety of very afffordable treatment options, and they also have an amazing sauna and steam room. The small gym is more than adequate for a small hotel, although with all the hills in Lisbon, we didn't find the need to use the gym!

I highly recommend Lumiares for your next trip to Lisbon!

The Lumiares was a good find, in a city chock full of small hotels and at very high standards. Online booking was seamless and easy. Prior to arrival, concierge was on hand to make all restaurant and sightseeing bookings, and offer their recommendations.

Arriving in Lisbon after a long flight, we were met by our chauffeur in a large comfortable Mercedes, included in our room rate and arranged by the hotel. In a short time, we were at the hotel. Check in was swift, receptionists were efficient and friendly. We had booked a studio suite, and were delighted to be given a corner one, which had large window overlooking the Gloria Funicular. I was worried that street noise would be be problem, but I am happy to report that sound proofing from street noise is excellent. Set up and layout were really nice, clean and tidy, bed is tucked into a semi enclosed space giving a feeling of coziness, bed is queen size and comfortable. Fully equipped and functioning open kitchen, complete with Smeg appliances. Complimentary coffee and tea, and mini bar. Except for the special drinks which are stocked just once, everything was replenished generously everyday. Would have liked a small bottle of milk to be provided for tea and coffee. Bathroom is very clean and tidy, small but functional, and I liked that the shower was a walk in one. Lovely toiletries from Claus Porto! It's not a big room, but the layout works and afforded a very comfortable stay.

Location is excellent, on top of a hill, steps from the Sao Pedro de Alcantara lookout, and 10 minutes straight down the hill brings you into the heart of the historic city.

We left for our road trip around Portugal, and left our bags with them, as we were returning to Lisbon. We returned 2 weeks later, and this time to a one bedroom suite. I would definitely recommend the 1 bedroom for more space, we were also given a corner suite, with lots of light, this time with a full size sofa, sitting area at the kitchen should you wish to dine in room.

Breakfast is included in the room rate, spread is good, lots of fresh fruit and granolas, pastries, bread and sweets, plain greek yoghurt, and a menu of hot entrees which can be ordered and at whatever quantities you wish to have! Loved the acai bowls! Service is a little slow during peak hours, but to have breakfast with the views from the rooftop terrace is amazing!

Nothing much to complain about, except maybe for internal sound proofing, we stayed next to a room with lots of children, and it felt and sounded like they were jumping kicking and screaming right next to me. Other than that, I would highly recommend the Lumi as a base to explore the lovely city of Lisbon, and we will be back!

This was my first stay at The Lumiares, but it won't be my last. The hotel is lovely, and the rooftop restaurant - Lumi - has absolutely amazing food, both at breakfast (we had breakfast included in our room rate) and at all other times during the day. Their signature cocktail for the month of October - the Pink October - was outstanding, and the views from the restaurant roof deck were fabulous.
The location couldn't be better. The funicular to take you up/down the hill to Av. Liberdade and the Rossio train station is literally across the street from the hotel. There are multiple Michelin-recommended restaurants within a 3 block radius, and the Lisbon Botanical Garden is an easy 20 minute walk away. The main park in Barrio Alto is also right across the street, and offers beautiful views of the city.
I was traveling with 2 other friends so we booked the 2 bedroom apartment (each bedroom had its own bath). The beds were comfortable and we were amazed that even though we were in the midst of a lively neighborhood (Barrio Alto) and were there on a party night (Halloween!) - the heavy wooden shutters in our room that blocked the windows kept the room completely quiet. We heard nothing from the street outside.
The apartment had a kitchenette with everything we could possibly ask for - dishes, glasses, silverware, a dishwasher, a mini fridge, a cooktop, pans - we could have easily cooked for ourselves, if we had wanted to.
But truly the best part of our experience there was the people. The hotel staff - from the front desk clerks to the housekeeping staff to everyone working at Lumi - were friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to ensure that we were happy and enjoying our stay. It was a level of customer service I haven't experienced in a long time, and we really appreciated it. This is a special place.

The Lumiares was a really great find in Lisbon. Located in the Bairro Alto section of Lisbon and part of SLH this 5 star boutique hotel is a great option for almost every traveler (except those on a budget...). Rooms are generously sized and all include a small kitchen and separated living area. This is great for business travelers needing a small office space, families with kids, couples wanting a bit of extra leg room... Rooms are updated and well maintained. Beds are firm but comfortable, linens are excellent - both towels and bed linens were fresh and new. Plenty of in-room amenities make the stay comfortable including bathroom toiletries (sustainable refillable sizes in the shower) and a nice selection of complimentary beverages and locally sourced snacks (small charge). There is a small but EXCELLENT spa in the basement with 4 very nice treatment rooms. Changing rooms have a small steam room and sauna that need to be pre-reserved (they are small) but worthwhile on cooler winter days. The restaurant LUMI on the 5th floor serves a simple breakfast with a wide variety of hot items that can be ordered a la carte available at no extra charge. The dining room is on the small side. In January this wasn't an issue, but in high season it could easily be busy and crowded. Similarly a beautiful outdoor terrace was of little use now, but would be great in the summer. Service was friendly and professional. Would highly recommend.

I was looking for an option that would accommodate my family of 4 well. Lumiares was an incredibly wise option. The hotel is sensational in every detail. I'll elaborate a little: our flight arrived from Brazil at 6am and, even though our check-in was only scheduled for 3pm, they managed to anticipate it and accommodated us immediately. The room is impeccable, kind of like an apartment with a living room, a mini kitchen and two bedrooms with two bathrooms. In addition, there are some treats in the room such as some complimentary bottles of water and some chocolates placed during cleaning. The staff is very attentive. The location is right at the top of the Gloria lift. The breakfast is fabulous! It's hard to imagine a better experience.

This is an awesome apart-hotel. Would be great if you are staying for a long time or need to work during your stay. Also great for families. I booked a 1 bedroom suite, but they gave us a 2 bedroom suite and just closed off the 2nd bed/bath. I'm not sure if the common area in that suite is larger than what I originally booked, but it was so nice. The kitchen is very modern and clean. Everything was easy to use and the housekeeping staff ran the dishwasher every day. It was also a very nice touch that the fridge came stocked with a number of complementary drinks, including water (that would be restocked as used), as well as wine, beer, and soft drinks (one time per stay).

The staff were very nice and the room was extremely comfortable. I do wish the tv had some kind of screen mirroring ability (like chromecast) because it would've been nice to be able to sit in the living room and watch a movie. It seemed like they did have something available, but I downloaded several apps and some appeared you needed a subscription. Perhaps I just couldn't get it to work correctly.

The hotel has a small spa, not really a place to lounge, but I had a nice massage to end my stay.

The location is great, right near a ton of restaurants. Our rate included breakfast, which was a buffet served in the rooftop restaurant/bar. On nice days, you could also sit outside.

In my hurry to get to the airport on my last day, I accidentally left something in the room. I realized as I was boarding the plane. I remembered the hotel had whatsapp and texted them. They wrote back immediately and sent me a picture of the item. They were able to put me in touch with a shipping company and get it back to me in a week or two for about EUR50, which I appreciated.

We had high expectations, but were disappointed. The location is great, everything is super clean and reception staff are nice and responsive but that’s about it. Our suite looked good, but there were very basic things missing such as any place to put our coats (no hangers), no snacks in the mini bar, tiny closet space and forget about hanging anything long, and water gets everywhere on the bathroom floor because there’s no curtain or shower door. I can’t imagine staying there longer or with a large suitcase. The spa treatment was ok, but again basic things missing. The room was cold and therapist didn’t offer to warm it up or turn the massage table heater on even though I said I prefer a warm room. Music kept shutting on and off. The shower took over five minutes to have warm water, this is in the middle of a treatment so how about run it ahead of time so I’m not staying in the cold covered in scrub waiting. The spa also smelled like exhaust fumes maybe from the parking lot below. Maybe all of these little things wouldn’t matter in a 3 or 4 start hotel, but this is meant to be 5 stars and doesn’t compare with some of the other boutique five star hotels in central Lisbon (aka Torrel Palace). We ordered room service and it was honestly some of the worse food I’ve had in Lisbon. First of all the menu doesn’t make sense - no green salad of any kind, no broth, no fries, no rice or pasta of any kind. Fine ok each place is different. But even what they did offer was terrible. The seafood wasn’t fresh, the cheese plate uninspired, and the vegetarian entree with the cauliflower was like a bad dream. They forgot the cutlery so we sat there for about 15 mins waiting for them to bring it while the food got cold. No offer to compensate even just the drinks. When my husband went to get some food from outside he had to wait 5 mins in the rain for them to open the front door of the hotel. These are all very fixable things, but perhaps standards went down post Covid.

Dear Mrs. Berkova, Thank you for sharing with us your honest feedback, we will pass all your words to our entire team and will work to improve our services. We would like also to present our most sincere apologies for all the inconveniences found during your stay, this is not the type of service we aim to offer to our guests and we are very sorry that all these details impacted your visit to Lisbon. Regarding your rightful feedback about hangers, curtains, and snacks in the mini bar, we would like to inform you that we are already acting as a way of improvement to provide more comfort to all of our guests as their satisfaction is our top priority. We have currently available our room service menu for snacks and our team is always ready to provide more hangers and, if needed, a chariot. In our spa, the team works hard to provide the best possible service to our guests and make them comfortable to have the best time during the treatment, unfortunately, the therapist misunderstood that you were no longer comfortable during the treatment and was not able to adjust the temperature on time. Our management. Referring to the room service, once again we regret that your experience was not satisfactory, our restaurant has a concept of a shared menu with Portuguese inspirations. However, we would like to mention that we are totally open to preparing any kind of order for our guests that do not appear on our menu as a salad or pasta. The cutlery, all our apartments have fully equipped kitchenettes where we provide cutlery. There must have been some sort of miscommunication, our apologies for this inconvenience. We hope to have the chance to welcome you again in not too distant future. The Lumiares team.

"Breakfast is fantastic. Location is great, but there isn't much place to park/pull-over. Gym is ok, but does require reservations."
