Hotel Da Baixa garners high praise for its prime location that places guests within arm's reach of local attractions, which, despite the odd vehicular access challenge, adds significant value to guest experiences. The hotel's tranquil atmosphere, thanks to effective soundproofing, is often highlighted, as is the vibrant ambiance, enriched by live music and cultural flourishes.
Guests have called out the attentive service and luxurious amenities, including free tours and breakfast. Although the rooms are occasionally noted to be cozy and softly lit, their cleanliness and comfort receive consistent commendations.

Such a wonderful little gem of a hotel, right in the centre of Lisbon's main downtown Baixa district. It's in an absolutely perfect location for getting to everything you want to see during your time here, surrounded by the main shops, restaurants and bars in the area. The hotel itself is beautiful, with superbly appointed, clean and modern rooms. The bed was huge and comfortable, the bathroom and large walk in shower excellent. Nespresso coffee machine and free minibar in the room were really welcome after a long day exploring Lisbon. Breakfast was a large buffet style affair with lots of choice including hot and cold options, a large selection of fruit, Meats cheese and pastries.
The walking tour with Pedro the amazing, friendly Guest Manager is an absolute must on your first day. It allowed us to get our bearings quickly for the main part of the city and Pedro is absolutely superb! He told us so much about the city and showed us some fantastic little places, including a church right near the hotel with a painting by Michaelangelo! He also gave us lots of really good tips for getting around the city, what to see in our time here and recommended and booked restaurants for us too.
Thank you Pedro and the team at Hotel da Baixa, we had such a wonderful stay in your beautiful hotel and city and we would highly recommend to stay here if you are planning on visiting Lisbon! It really is a 5* hotel with 5* service!
One last tip...book directly with the hotel for the best rates! We did and it was such an easy and helpful process and it saved us lots!

I stayed with my wife at this hotel from 27 August to 1 September, booking the room with breakfast included directly from the hotel website. The hotel is in a very central position, a stone's throw from practically everything, and I must say that we could not have chosen a hotel with a better location: the Rossio metro station is a 3-minute walk away and therefore the connection with the airport is very easy; almost all the places to visit are no more than 10 minutes away on foot, 20 for the castle of Sao Jorge Inside the hotel is very beautiful, and the room (although a little small) is really spotless and well-kept: soft bed, topper, selection of pillows, soft bathrobes and towels, slippers, safe, Nespresso machine, coffee table iron, hairdryer and hair straightener. I found the master switch near the bedside table very convenient, given that it is not as common as it should be, from which you can either control every single light in the room and also the blackout curtain, or turn everything off with a single button. We stayed in an interior room, and the soundproofing was total, therefore ensuring rest. The staff is extremely kind and courteous. The breakfast, at the buffet, is complete although not very varied in the hot part (basically scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and vegetables): this is the only point to improve in my opinion. In short, the next time we return to Lisbon we will already know where to stay

I was visiting for business, and the location couldn’t have been better. The hotel is situated on a quiet street with tram tracks, so it's peaceful and free from the hustle and bustle of tourists. Yet, it’s just a short walk from all the major attractions and central points in the city. Perfect balance! Getting around is a breeze. There’s a taxi stand just a minute’s walk away, which is incredibly convenient, especially since cars aren’t allowed on this particular street. The only traffic is the trams, many of which are charming, vintage models that have become an iconic part of Lisbon’s landscape. The service at the hotel was exceptional. From check-in to check-out, the staff was impeccable, always ready to help with anything, big or small. As for the breakfast—luxury! The spread is worth every penny. All the ingredients are top-quality. Fresh fruits like kiwi, oranges, pineapple, melon, and papaya are on offer, and the cold appetizers include fresh salmon and other premium selections. It’s a perfect start to the day. Now, the room: in my standard room, I had two large windows and a high ceiling (around 3.5 meters), which made the space feel vast and airy. The bed was enormous—truly a King-size—and the mattress was incredibly comfortable. Every detail was carefully thought out, from the daily supply of complimentary water to the in-room, coffee machine with pods. I have long hair, and I usually bring my own shampoo and conditioner when I travel, but the products here were from a renowned French brand—top quality, so I didn’t need to use my own. The bathroom amenities were all excellent. The room also offered ample space to work. I set up my laptop by the window, enjoying coffee in a comfortable chair—perfect for the times I needed to catch up on work. The hotel’s restaurant, Sebastiao, deserves special mention. Don’t even bother looking for alternatives! In Lisbon’s city center, there are always people trying to lure you into restaurants with promises of great deals, but I can’t imagine a better dining experience than at Sebastiao. The food is a delightful blend of traditional Portuguese dishes and fusion cuisine, all made with exceptional quality ingredients. Plus, there’s live jazz music to set the mood, making it a great spot for a business dinner or a relaxing evening meal. The hotel also has a cocktail bar, which is an ideal setting for winding down after a day of exploring the city or having a casual business discussion. Finally, I must mention the security measures. To access the guest floors, you need a key card for the elevator, ensuring that only guests can reach the rooms. It’s a nice added layer of safety and privacy.

We started off our trip to Portugal with a quick 15 euro Uber ride from the airport to Hotel Da Baixa in beautiful Lisbon. The short ride allowed us to immediately get on with our vacation and sightseeing The entire staff goes to great lengths to make sure everything is perfect. Hotel manager, front desk, wait staff... everyone! They are quick to assist and we needed for nothing during our stay. The room was clean, bright, very unique with high ceilings, large windows overlooking the blvd (power shades), very comfortable bedding and beautiful modern bathrooms with large showers and great fixtures.
Travelers - 4 people occupying two rooms - stayed mid-week - 3 days and two evenings. Easy direct flight via Air Portugal from Boston to Lisbon.
Language: Everyone in the hotel spoke english but that shouldn't prevent you from learning some of their language.... Por favor (please) Obrigado (thank you) De nada (you're welcome) Desculpe (excuse me).... it's a beautiful language and the folks there will appreciate your efforts.
Location: the hotel is located in the heart of the city a short walk away from restaurants, shops and all the beautiful historic sights: Rua Augusta Arch, Statue of Jose and the Prace do Comercio are right next door!!
Lisbon Transportation: from the hotel you will be able to walk to everything you may want to see in Lisbon in a day or three. We also opted to use local transportation around the city as needed like a spontaneous 5 euro taxi up to Sao Jorge Castle that overlooks the entire city or a convenient Uber for day trips to Sintra or Cascais.
Back to the hotel - we really took advantage of the hotel in the morning and in the evenings before and after our travels. The bar and its surrounding seating area was comfortable, awesome cocktails with local spirits and incredible entertainment on the two nights we stayed here. We enjoyed some tapas on day one on the rear blvd. Note: the main streets in the area of the hotel are all closed to 95% of traffic minus a few hours in the morning for deliveries which made the visit more enjoyable. The historic cable cars to make their way up the street throughout the day so have your camera ready. The parallel street between the blocks are always closed so shoppers and restaurant goers have plenty of room.
Thank you to everyone at Hotel Da Baixa for a great start to our vacation!

Terrific location. Entire hotel is extremely quiet even with its very central location. On-site restaurant has a good and varied b'fast buffet and lunch menu. Did not have dinner or visit the bar during my three-night stay, but both had crowds and they seemed happy. Elevators respond quickly. Rooms and bathrooms are small, but w/high ceilings and are well-appointed. Comfortable beds, bathroom water pressure is strong and hot water arrives quickly. My early check-in and 12 noon check-out front-desk staff were extremely professional and they happily stored my luggage without charge. My multiple questions to various night-time front-desk staff regarding heat and a/c were answered incorrectly each time resulting in air-conditioning vs heat blowing overhead on two consecutive nights, which caused disrupted sleep. From a safety and customer-service standpoint it was a bit disconcerting / disappointing when late-night front desk attendants (on all three nights) did not bother to pull themselves away from their phones to acknowledge guests re-entering their hotel. (just before midnight) each night) Overall a positive experience and would stay with Hotel da Baixa again.

Dear Guest, Wow, thank you for sharing such a detailed review! We are delighted that you enjoyed our prime location, peaceful atmosphere, and well-appointed rooms. It’s also wonderful to hear that our breakfast and lunch offerings met your expectations and that our front desk team provided professional service during check-in and check-out. However, we sincerely apologize for the inattentiveness you experienced during the evening shift. This is not the level of service we strive for, and we will be addressing this matter with our team to ensure all guests feel properly welcomed and assisted at all times. Wonderful but sadly short stay for us at Hotel de Baixa. Our arrival and transfers to and from the airport were seamless and on time, both our drivers were excellent and provided good information. As an example, upon arrival we learned of the fires and the closure of Sintra from our driver so we didn’t end up wasting a day traveling to a closed location and were able to request refund of all our pre purchased tickets. The hotel had arranged this for us, so I mention this because it made our arrival and departure less stressful AND we were able to change our plans knowing this. Upon arrival at hotel we were greeted warmly, provided info and able to check in without issue. Our bags were quickly taken to our room as well. We were even provided a welcome cocktail after checking in and enjoyed a lovely bottle of sparkling rose in our room while unpacking. The hotel is situated in an excellent location and with the exception of taking a taxi to Torre de Belem and museums one day, we walked everywhere. There are lots of restaurants nearby as well. The morning breakfast which we only got to experience on one day was great, and a wonderful way to start our adventure in the city. The room was well decorated with just enough furnishings and not a bunch of clutter, which is our personal preference. Minibar, fridge, safe and coffee machine were working and all greatly situated in a closet flush with the wall. The blinds were electronic and make for ease of use and privacy as you can see across to other building quite well. The bar was also excellent and recommend the Da Baixa for a refreshing cocktail choice. They also had excellent wine and other selections which was nice to return to after a day of exploring. We liked being able to talk, relax and sip on a drink while watching the tram/ trolley outside. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We highly recommend this hotel for others, as a couple who likes amenities and adventure within access, the great location and hotel offerings coupled with the service were 5 star

Pedro greeted as warmly as the manager of Hotel Baixa. He was extremely informed passionate and described himself as a dreamer! We truly enjoyed seeing the local sites through his eyes. He even finished the tour with a complimentary drink and souvenir. We enjoyed our 3 night stay- They really paid attention to detail, leaving pastel de nata and port in the room, Unlimited water bottles and coffee downstairs. We opted for the included breakfast, which was delicious with made to order omelette station. We dined outside every day and enjoyed the table service. Being in the heart of everything and on a pedestrian only side street, we felt safe. So convenient for catching tram or Uber or walking. The beds were very comfortable and the shower newly renovated with beautiful white marble and large enough for two people to shower. The hotel is Clean and well kept - the front desk staff is eager to help and polite, seated right as you enter. Always well staffed. We also really appreciated the bar and lounge area with live music every night. Always had seating and the waiters helped move the chairs for our group of 8.

I simply cannot say enough good things about Hotel Baixa. We arrived early in the morning December 23rd, greeted by Pedro and his helpful, friendly team. Diego and Rafa gladly accompanied us to our vehicle, a block away, to get luggage and Diego even helped us park the car. We were offered an opportunity to gather ourselves and enjoy their lovely breakfast buffet and delicious cappuccino before heading out to explore downtown Lisbon. The rooms were stylishly comfortable with elevated finishes creating a cozy, luxurious environment. Arrival treats and turn down service that included local Port wine made us feel special and welcome. Washrooms in every room were beautifully appointed with lush, fluffy towels and a cosy robe. The rain and waterfall shower head in the Marquesa room made me want to stay forever. Lighting in the room created all the right ambiance and black out blinds and curtains allowed for a restful sleep.

I wholeheartedly recommend Hotel da Baixa - it was the perfect place to stay. The location is excellent, walkable to many, many beautiful and interesting places, as well as very close to trams and a train station. Along with attractive and clean public areas, my room was very attractive, clean, comfortable and quiet, with high ceilings and a large, modern bathroom and walk-in shower; breakfast offered a wide range of choices, and offerings in the lobby later in the day - such as coffee, pastries, and mulled wine - were perfect when returning from sightseeing. Last and hardly least: my thanks to the capable, helpful, gracious and welcoming hotel staff. I'll especially recognize Marta, Front Desk Agent, who helped me from beginning to end, always with a smile, and Pedro, Guest Services Manager. Join his walking tour if you can. Hotel da Baixa was a fabulous place to stay!

This was our second trip to Lisbon. After spending hours researching hote;s in the historic areas of Lisbon we decided on the Hotel da Baixa and we have NO regrets. We were looking for a smaller hotel with a walkable location that provided a historic Lisbon feel and the Hotel da Baixa delivered on each of those. The hotel was renovated in 2018 so the rooms have all you need while maintaining the historic feel. The bathroom in our room was large and modern. Overall, our room quality and sleep comfort was excellent.
There was hotel staff at the entrance always available to assist and provide local knowledge if needed.
The location is just off of Rossio Square allowing easy walking around the square and to the train station for touring outside of the area. There are many restaurant and bakery options all near the hotel. We would recommend trying the local bakeries for breakfast as the variety of options seem limitless (suggest trying Casa Brasileira).
The street of the hotel, Rua da Prata, restricts cars. The Trolly and Tram run on the street in front of the hotel. And while we could hear the tram and trolly (very lightly) from our street view room, it was a much softer than the sound of cars you would hear on other streets. Without car traffic, you might have to walk a block or two with your luggage if dropped off by an Uber/taxi. We found this manageable even in the rain and view the lack of car traffic as a plus since the street was open and enjoyable for walking.
Day trips are simple from this location as the Rossio train station is only a five-minute walk away, and from there Sintra is only a short fifty-minute ride away.
It's worth noting that we stayed at Hotel da Baixa during an off peak weak and season, so we found the value of our stay excellent! The area was much less busy than during peak periods (summer) and that made the stay even more enjoyable. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Da Baixa again.
