We picked this hotel for the convenient location. It's right next to metro & train station, close to grocery stores, bakeries, and about a 10 minute walk to the water - fantastic! The staff were super friendly as well, and they completely took care of booking & prepayment of taxi to airport, and even insisted that we eat breakfast before...

I've stayed at Hotel Gat Rossio for two nights. The location is perfect. Nearby to the Old city, Barrio Alto, Praça do Comerçao, etc. There are many restaurants and bars around too. The room is quite small, but enough if you do not spend many hours into it. However, everything worked perfectly. There are many pillows, but none is comfortable....

I have just got home from a 3 night city break in Lisbon and stayed here. The hotel is gorgeous but I was surprised it didn't have a bar as there is a lovely rooftop terrace and sitting area. The hotel is very central and in a perfect position for everywhere! The bed we stayed in was very creaky though...

I absolutely loved this Hotel. The location was perfect very easy to walk to all of the major sites and also very safe. The room was very clean and spacious. The bathroom was spotless and also spacious. Loved the large windows and balcony that allowed for natural light. The breakfast was perfect fresh juices, a coffee machine that actually gave...

Perfect ubication, located just 2 mins from Rossio train station (For Sintra for example) and 2 mins to the bus that takes you to the airport. Nice people workng in the hotel that will help with any doubt. Rooms were clean. Only main issue was the size of the room, specially bathroom's size. It was quite tiny, I'd , however,...

Spotlessly clean and comfortable, friendly and helpful staff. Great location, wonderful buffet breakfast with cakes from the bakery nearby. Superb value and a great stay. The location could not be better for exploring the city on foot, and is handy for buses, trams and trains elsewhere. Loads of good restaurants and bars on the doorstep

There's only not a good choice if you're a trouble sleeping person. The hotel is located on the street where there are many restaurants and shops. At night, it can be very noisy, especially when there's street artists are singing.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
