Had a really unsatisfying time here, I get its trying to be different, quirky and against type but really all you are left with is that ultimately it's (barely) serviced apartments, it's most definitely not a hotel. From the moment you arrive and stand at the not very attractive check-in for the hostel ( it shares a front desk) and...

We stayed here for only one night in may 2016 but would most certainly return. Our room on the top floor was reached via a tiny old fashioned lift ( one could use the stairs) and was spacious, tasteful and comfortable. Not your standard hotel room in any way, as it contained some lovely , quirky pieces of furniture .The...

If you like quirky you'll love this. The rooms are large, comfortable and full of strange things. The food is good in both restaurants. Top floor has the views. Ground floor has better menu, better food and is cheaper. Don't eat out,try both. Decent breakfast included. Great location but lots of hills. Bar zone behind hotel.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in September 2015. The room was beautifully and tastefully arranged and the restaurant offered really great food. It also has a rooftop bar with amazing views! I can highly recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back.

As a group of friends we stayed in the Hotel part of The Independente. The staff were exceptionally helpful. The breakfast were excellent on the roof terrace. We ate in both restaurants which again were excellent. The bar staff were very attentive and efficient. The decor in the hotel was amazing with very quirky bits round every corner.

The hotel is in two parts situated next door to each other. One part has a ground floor bar and restaurant whereas the other has the breakfast area/evening restaurant on the top floor with great views across the city towards the castle. We enjoyed our stay and are at both restaurants preferring the ground floor one. Bar staff were very...

Loved, loved loved our stay. Cannot fault it. Rooms were spotless and such a unique building with quirky touches. Restaurants were impressive and the location was second to none. We stayed in the suite side of the building and we felt like we had our own apartment. We just let ourselves in and took the tiny but oh so wonderful...

We stayed 5 nights at the Independente in mid October and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Location-wise it is perfect, very close to Principe Real and a 15 minute walk down to Cais do Sodre; a Lisbon pass helped with taking the bus back! Our room enjoyed a view over the Miradour Sao Pedro which added to the experience. The Independente,...

We went to Lisbon for 4 nights to celebrate our son's 30th birthday. We stayed in a suite and a large group stayed in the hostel. Situation is great for accessing the city and there is a great view from the hotel rooftop restaurant where an excellent breakfast was served. Room was comfortable. Lots of quirky furniture etc. Good happy...

A charming place in a good location - quirky and a bit shabby chic but that just added to the charm. Really enjoyable breakfasts, served with a smile, and a very decent restaurant. Friendly and helpful staff. My room (at the front) was very noisy on Friday and Saturday nights but the view over the street and terrace area beyond...
