I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in May 2017. I have previously been to Lisbon three times before and have to honestly say that this has been the best location with the nicest hotel. Rooms are ultra modern but be warned if you go for the small room it is just that...a bit snug. However I go to...

We stayed four nights we received a very warm welcome from Tania who explained how to get about, tours and restaurants, nothing was to much trouble. The room was comfortable but we don't understand why they take up valuable space with a computer and an iPad when there is a lot of space downstairs but apart from that it was...

This hotel is modern and/or freshly refurbished. There is nothing to say about staff, confort location etc... Nevertheless I believe the push their concept a bit to far. Actually, rooms are small but they anyway found the way to put a huge flat screen, one table with two chairs, one desk with iMac and iPad, two even three radios, a...

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It is very central & were walking distance to many of the main attractions - Rossio Square, Santa Justa Lift, Carmo Convent & Arco da Rua Augusta: A Triumphal Arch. The hotel was modern and clean, the room was very spacious. Staff were always happy to help. I highly recommend staying here.

We found the location of Brown's downtown to be perfect for what we wanted, central, and a short walk from the Rossio train station as well as the Metro. Located on a side street with little traffic, the hotel is quite attractive in a modern techno flavor. The young people staffing the reception spoke excellent English and were very personable...

We stayed here for 4 nights on a short break to the city. The hotel has a perfect location, it is very close to a metro station, the main shopping area and the square. The staff are friendly and efficient and all speak english perfectly. The reception gives a New York loft feel, there is a complementary coffee machine and...

We stayed for 2 nights and it's just not enough. Staffs are just super helpful and nice, always one step ahead in organising our rooms, pickup cars, restaurants booking, etc. The rooms are good enough size, air-con works very well. Location of the hotel is good, shopping just around the corner. Hotel offers breakfast at Brown's Bistro and was very...

Brown's Hotels are basically all 2 blocks from each other - Downtown, Central & Boutique - and the facilities are spread across them. For example - welcome drink at the Central bar down the road, included breakfast at Brown's Bistro at the Boutique. Our hotel had a very modern, designer flair to the polished concrete and timber spaces. Our Castle...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
